A PROCLAMATION

As we celebrate Victory Day for World War II –- we celebrate America’s monumental triumph over tyranny and evil in Europe, led by the might of our Armed Forces and those of our Allies.  On May 8, 1945, the iron grip of Nazi Germany shattered, and news of victory swept across our great Nation and the world, marking a decisive turning point in the history of freedom.   

From the legendary storming of the beaches of Normandy to the frigid, hard-fought defense during the Battle of the Bulge, the courage of countless American soldiers carried the Allied cause across the deserts of North Africa and the forests of western Europe until the forces of the Nazi regime collapsed in ruin.  Their sacrifice, together with the unwavering resolve of millions of men and women on the home front, drove tyranny to its knees and paved the way for the Allied powers to secure their resounding victory against Imperial Japan nearly 4 months later.

The fight for liberty came at a staggering cost.  More than 250,000 Americans laid down their lives in the fight against the Nazi regime.  Their heroic sacrifice reminds us that the sacred freedoms we cherish are forged in sacrifice and must be fiercely defended both at home and abroad.  Let us remember them, and the millions of innocent souls who endured horrendous atrocities, and lost their lives, at the hands of national socialism.

As we celebrate 250 years of American independence, we carry their legacy forward by ensuring our Armed Forces remain the most dominant in the world, ready to safeguard our sovereignty, to confront any threat, and preserve the flame of liberty they fought so valiantly to defend.

Presidential Message on National Day of Prayer

This National Day of Prayer, we honor America’s enduring tradition of prayer, faith, and trust in Almighty God.  And as we celebrate 250 glorious years of American independence, we pledge to never forget the countless blessings God has bestowed upon our people and our country.  

From the cradles of civilization in the ancient world to the Christian empires of medieval Europe and the miraculous founding of our own Nation, the entire Western experience has been connected by a golden thread of devotion to God.  America’s faith was seen most prominently during our struggle for independence, when the Second Continental Congress declared a day of “humiliation, fasting, and prayer” to seek God’s providence and ask for His protection and blessing in their fight for freedom, virtue, and posterity. 

Just weeks later, armed with unshakable faith, the Colonies declared their independence from Great Britain on July 4, 1776, and paved the way for freedom’s ultimate victory five years later at Yorktown.  In the years since, this proud birthright of faith moved our Nation to expand the promise of independence to the furthest reaches of our continent; preserve our Union in the midst of a bloody Civil War; abolish slavery; win two world wars; defeat the evil forces of atheistic communism; plant our Flag on the Moon; and advance truth, beauty, and goodness in our culture every single day.  

Today, faith in God is resurging on American shores like never before.  Throughout this historic year, we rejoice in the triumph of the American spirit and in the love and grace of Almighty God.  And just as our Founders came together in prayer before declaring independence, thousands of Americans will gather on Sunday, May 17, on the National Mall to rededicate the United States as One Nation Under God.  

This National Day of Prayer, we proudly recommit to our magnificent birthright of faith.  I encourage all Americans to come together today in prayer, reflecting on the many blessings God has given our Nation and asking for His continued protection, with ceremonies, events, and programs in their houses of worship and places of work, schools, and homes. Above all, we pledge that America will always, as it is written in Psalm 96, “Tell His glory among the nations”—and that we will never forget God’s role in creating, protecting, and sustaining the freest, strongest, most prosperous, and greatest country the world has ever known.

Every day, we rely on the compassionate service and steady commitment of our Nation’s corps of nursing professionals.  On National Nurses Day, we pay special tribute to these highly skilled men and women for their steadfast dedication to the health and well-being of their fellow citizens.

As our Nation’s largest healthcare profession, an estimated 5 million nurses serve communities nationwide in hospitals, clinics, schools, public health departments, and long-term care facilities.  They stand beside us in our most vulnerable and meaningful moments, from the joy and wonder of the first breath of life to the quiet sorrow of the last.  Whether in emergencies, routine visits, or the long course of illness and recovery, patients and their families are lifted by the expertise, compassion, and steady reassurance of these caregivers.  In every circumstance, America’s nurses tend to what matters most in life—safeguarding our health and protecting the well-being of those we love with unmatched resolve.

Despite long work hours, demanding schedules, and stressful life-and-death circumstances, nurses rise to every challenge with skill, precision, and pride, keeping their patients’ needs foremost in heart and mind.  That dedication deserves to be met in kind, which is why my Administration is committed to standing behind our Nation’s nurses every day.  Through the Working Families Tax Cuts Act and its elimination of taxes on overtime pay, we are helping nurses keep more of what they earn and build the financial security they have long deserved.

Nursing is a noble calling, a vocation worthy of our gratitude, respect, and admiration.  On National Nurses Day, the First Lady joins me in honoring America’s nurses, whose steady hands and generous hearts sustain the health of our people and strengthen the vitality of our great Nation.

Presidential Message on National Astronaut Day

In the morning hours of May 5, 1961, Commander Alan Shepard cemented his place in history when he became the first American to journey into the final frontier, propelling the United States into the Space Race and signaling a glorious new era of cosmic discovery.  Today, as we celebrate National Astronaut Day, we pay tribute to the generations of brave men and women who have followed in his footsteps and are now carrying our Nation’s beautiful Flag farther into space than ever before.

Commander Shepard’s courage aboard Freedom 7 will forever stand as a testament to American excellence and our relentless pursuit into the unknown.  Since that epic flight, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has continued to push the boundaries of human potential.  From Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin etching humanity’s first footprints on the ancient dust of the lunar surface to landing rovers on Mars, America continues to set the gold standard for space exploration—and together, our Nation is making history once again among the stars.

Last month, American astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, alongside Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen, embarked on a groundbreaking voyage aboard the spacecraft Integrity on the ArtemisII mission, launching deep into space on top of one of the most powerful rockets ever built.  These brave explorers of the unknown traveled 695,081 miles through the vast expanses of space, triumphantly carrying our beautiful Stars and Stripes farther from Earth than mankind has ever reached before.

Journeying around the Moon for the first time in over 50 years, the Artemis II crew gave us a new understanding of our celestial neighbor and advanced our knowledge of deep space travel—information that will prove essential as we prepare to return American boots to the Moon by 2028 and advance toward a permanent American settlement on the lunar surface, with our future sights set firmly on the red dunes of Mars.

Under my Executive Order to Ensure American Space Superiority, we are reaching for the stars once again with the same ingenuity, courage, and indomitable spirit that have defined our national story for 250 years.  Freedom will fly once again: We are advancing space nuclear technology for the journey to Mars, empowering innovation across the commercial space industry, and securing American space dominance for generations to come.  Our Republic stands at the dawn of a new Golden Age of space exploration—one that will carry the hopes and ambitions of our people farther into the great beyond than ever before.

National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, 2026

This National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, we celebrate the strength, discipline, and competitive spirit that reflect the American people.  We recognize the values and lessons that sports and fitness instill.  Above all, we reaffirm our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles, expanding access to athletic opportunities, and ensuring every American has the chance to compete and succeed. 

Sports and fitness are woven into the fabric of American identity, and the greatness that defines our Nation is forged only through hard work, sweat, and an unrelenting demand for success.  Physical dedication sharpens the mind, steels the will, and produces the kind of character that Americans carry into every aspect of their lives.  Citizens who hold themselves to that standard of excellence are capable of meeting any challenge of the world today.

My Administration is committed to strengthening the next generation of Americans and promoting sports participation, which is why I was proud to sign an Executive Order revitalizing the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition and reestablishing the Presidential Fitness Test.  This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Council, and under my leadership, we are once again making fitness and nutrition national priorities.  Working alongside world-class professional athletes, major league organizations, teams, schools and communities across our country, we are ushering in a new Golden Age of physical fitness — expanding access to wellness for every American, promoting the many benefits of exercise and good nutrition, supporting youth sports, and celebrating a culture of strength, vitality, and excellence. 

We are also leading the charge to restore integrity and fairness to sports.  In my first days back in office, I issued an Executive Order keeping men out of women’s athletics — protecting the equal opportunity of women and girls to compete and excel.  I also took executive actions to ensure that colleges preserve — and, where possible, expand — scholarship and roster opportunities for student athletes in all sports, and I am working hard to ensure enforcement of clear, consistent, and fair rules on eligibility, transfers, and compensation so that college athletics remain a uniquely American institution.

Over the next 3 years, America will host the Presidents Cup, the FIFA World Cup, and the Olympic Games — the world’s premiere sporting competitions.  These events will provide fitness aspirations for all generations of Americans and celebrate the power of sports to unite our people.  To mark the 250th anniversary of our Nation’s independence, my Administration is also hosting the Patriot Games this fall, bringing together one young man and one young woman from each State and territory to compete in events highlighting the greatest and brightest up-and-coming athletes.  This once-in-a-generation event will showcase the extraordinary talents that thrive across our country, proving to the world that the American competitive spirit is stronger and more vibrant than ever before.

This month, we are reminded that a country is only as strong as its citizens.  I encourage all Americans to take steps to ensure they can live healthy and fulfilling lives through regular exercise and the joys of sports — improving the strength, vigor, and success of our Nation along the way.

Savings from Most-Favored-Nation Drug Pricing Policy

The Trump Administration has designed a Most-Favored-Nation (MFN) drug pricing policy framework to address the major differences in drug prices and contributions to the pharmaceutical innovation enterprise across developed countries. To date, the Administration has reached voluntary MFN pricing agreements with 17 of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturers in the world. Moving forward, the Administration expects to reach similar agreements with most manufacturers of sole-source brand name drugs and biologics in the nation. In parallel, the Administration is working with Congress to codify those voluntary agreements into law to ensure that patients continue to benefit from price discounts. This report describes the MFN drug pricing framework and evaluates its fiscal effects.

MFN provisions differ between future drug launches (“prospective MFN”) and drugs on the market before MFN began (“existing drugs”). Under the voluntary MFN framework, manufacturers will offer all new drugs launched in the U.S. at prices comparable to those in other high‑income countries.1 This prospective MFN construct applies across all markets in the U.S., inclusive of the private insurance market, and is expected to generate $529B in domestic savings in the next 10 years across all markets. By tying U.S. drug prices to international prices, prospective MFN will lower U.S. prices and put upward pressure on prices paid in other wealthy nations.

The voluntary MFN framework requires manufacturers to make existing drugs available to state Medicaid programs at MFN prices, which would generate $64.3B in federal and state savings in the next 10 years. Discounted prices offered in the direct-to-consumer channel, TrumpRx.gov, will generate large patient savings for prescription drugs commonly purchased outside of insurance, including glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) drugs for weight loss and fertility medications. Specifically, GLP-1 users without insurance coverage are expected to save $3,000 per year, and couples undergoing in-vitro fertilization are anticipated to realize savings exceeding $6,000. In addition to the voluntary MFN framework, proposed legislation would ensure that health insurers count direct-to-consumer purchases of drugs at MFN prices towards patients’ deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums. Finally, as part of the voluntary MFN framework, the Trump Administration secured price reductions for GLP-1 drugs, hereby enabling a fiscally sustainable expansion of Medicare coverage for anti-obesity treatments.

The MFN drug pricing policy framework has been carefully designed to work in tandem with U.S. trade policy efforts. While U.S. trade policy pushes foreign governments to pay their fair share, U.S. pricing commitments provide drug manufacturers with complimentary leverage in their negotiations with other wealthy nations. Taken together, the MFN framework aims to equalize drug prices through the combination of decreases in U.S. prices and increases in prices faced by other developed countries.

Jewish American Heritage Month, 2026

A PROCLAMATION

This Jewish American Heritage Month, we honor the countless contributions of Jewish Americans throughout our Nation’s 250 glorious years of independence, and we celebrate their unwavering commitment to the values that make our country great — faith, family, and freedom.

In his letter to the Hebrew Congregation in Newport, Rhode Island, in 1790, President George Washington beautifully said, “May the Children of the Stock of Abraham, who dwell in this land, continue to merit and enjoy the good will of the other Inhabitants; while everyone shall sit in safety under his own vine and fig tree, and there shall be none to make him afraid.” Since the earliest days of our Republic, Jewish Americans have helped build the cause of liberty and sustain the greatness of our Nation.  Among them was the iconic Haym Salomon, an early supporter of the war for independence.  As stories tell us, Salomon was instrumental in the success of our Continental Congress and Founding Fathers, and rallied support for freedom.  He was a zealous advocate against tyranny, and even after imprisonment by the British Crown, he continued his work in defense of freedom.  In the end, he gave everything to the success of the American Revolution.  Like so many Jewish Americans who follow in his footsteps, Salomon’s legacy stands as a testament to the unshakable belief in the American promise. 

In the same letter to the Hebrew Congregation at Newport, President Washington proclaimed that the United States “gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance.” Under my leadership, we are aggressively fighting the violence against Jewish Americans that increased under my predecessor, prosecuting hateful criminals to the fullest extent of the law, and working to end the scourge of anti-Semitism throughout our institutions, especially on college campuses.  As President, I will never stop fighting to protect our birthright of religious freedom — a sacred right that continues to guide our Nation, drawing us closer to the Almighty each and every day.

Throughout this historic year, we rejoice in the triumph of the American spirit and rededicate ourselves to the cause of liberty and justice for all.  In special honor of 250 glorious years of American independence and on the weekend of Rededicate 250 — a national jubilee of prayer, praise, and thanksgiving — Jewish Americans are encouraged to observe a national Sabbath.  From sundown on May 15 to nightfall on May 16, friends, families, and communities of all backgrounds may come together in gratitude for our great Nation.  This day will recognize the sacred Jewish tradition of setting aside time for rest, reflection, and gratitude to the Almighty.  

This month, we celebrate the contributions that Jewish Americans have made to our way of life, we honor their role in shaping the story of our Nation, and we remember that religious devotion, learning, and service to others are enduring pillars of a thriving culture.  Through every trial and triumph, thecontributions of Jewish Americans have shaped our past, havestrengthened our communities, and will continue to inspire American greatness for generations to come.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. America 250: Presidential Message on the Anniversary of the Battle of the Coral Sea

Today, our Nation commemorates the 84th anniversary of the Battle of the Coral Sea, honoring the brave Americans and Australians who joined forces to turn the tide of World War II in the Pacific against tyranny.  Through their shared sacrifice and courage, an enduring bond was forged between our peoples—one that has weathered the trials of history and remains a cornerstone of security and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific and beyond.

For 4 grueling days in the Coral Sea, Americans and Australians fought alongside one another, launching relentless air strikes against the invasion fleet.  It was the first ever carrier-to-carrier naval engagement in military history, with opposing fleets never seeing or firing directly on one another but rather carrying out the mission from the sky.  After enduring days of intense combat, Allied forces struck with precision, halting a major enemy advancement through the Pacific Theatre and delivering a critical blow to its naval strength, ultimately paving the way for the decisive victory at Midway a month later.

Out of the ashes of that hard-won triumph emerged an alliance between the United States and Australia that remains stronger than ever before—and my Administration is fully committed to deepening our strategic partnership in the years to come.  Last October, I was proud to secure a landmark agreement with Australia to expand our shared access to rare earth and critical minerals—an essential component of America’s ability to deter threats, confront our adversaries, and secure our economic prosperity for generations to come.

As we reflect on this solemn anniversary of the Battle of the Coral Sea, we honor the unwavering grit of our service members and remember those heroes who willingly laid down their lives in the defense of freedom.  Standing shoulder to shoulder with our Australian partners, we will continue to champion the cause of peace and stability throughout the Indo-Pacific, ushering in a new Golden Age of security and prosperity for our Nation and our allies around the world.

Today, President Donald J. Since taking office, the Trump Administration has moved with urgency and results to empower small businesses:

  • Tax Relief for Main Street: President Trump signed the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, delivering major victories for small businesses —making the small business deduction permanent, restoring full expensing for equipment and expansion investments, boosting take-home pay, and expanding Opportunity Zones to drive capital into underserved communities.
  • Dramatic Regulatory Relief: The Trump Administration launched a Deregulation Strike Force that has already eliminated more than $110 billion in burdensome regulatory costs for small businesses in just one year, freeing owners to focus on growth instead of compliance.
  • Record-Breaking SBA Support: In FY25, the Small Business Administration (SBA) delivered record capital to small businesses — guaranteeing $45 billion in 7(a) and 504 loans to more than 85,000 small businesses, the highest volume in the agency’s history, as part of over $100 billion in total capital access.
  • New Manufacturing Renaissance: SBA launched its first-ever dedicated loan program for small manufacturers, waived most upfront fees, and expanded guarantees for critical supply chains to accelerate the return of American industrial strength.
  • Support for Domestic Supply Chains: New procurement tools, including the Make Onshoring Great Again Portal, help small businesses source American-made suppliers and components.
  • Ending Costly Bureaucracy: The Administration suspended enforcement of the burdensome Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) reporting requirements, saving small businesses billions in paperwork and compliance costs.
  • Putting Americans First: SBA implemented critical reforms, including citizenship verification for loan applicants and relocating offices out of sanctuary cities, to ensure taxpayer dollars support American entrepreneurs, and cracked down on DEI-based contracting schemes.
  • Protecting Franchises: The Trump Administration terminated the Obama-era “Joint Employer Rule,” removing a major threat to franchise owners and the millions of jobs they create.

These decisive actions have restored confidence in American small businesses. Hiring is up, investment is surging, small business optimism remains strong, and entrepreneurs are once again betting on the future under President Trump’s leadership.

For 250 years, American small businesses have been the foundation of our national strength and empowered our citizens to achieve the American Dream.  This National Small Business Week, we honor the entrepreneurs, innovators, and dreamers, whose pioneering spirit invigorates our culture, powers our economy, and lifts our communities to new heights.

From the manufacturers of the industrial era to the technology startups of today, American businesses have served as the cornerstone of our prosperity and fortified the strongest workforce in the history of the world.  Today, 36 million small businesses span every community of our country—from family farms to neighborhood storefronts—and employ more than 45 percent of our workforce.  These hardworking men and women bolster our growing economy through the sweat of their brow and a steadfast determination to forge a brighter future for themselves, their families, and our Nation. 

Every day, my Administration is delivering incredible victories for America’s small businesses.  Last year, I proudly signed the historic One Big Beautiful Bill, which provides the largest permanent tax cut for working families and job creators, expands opportunity zones to unlock billions in investments for emerging areas, and significantly increases tax deductions for new equipment purchases and business improvements.  Most importantly, we made permanent the small business tax deduction, allowing small business owners to deduct 20 percent of their hard-earner qualified business income. Since then, nearly half of all taxpayers have already benefited from the no tax on tips and overtime provisions of the Working Families Tax Cuts—putting more money back in the pockets of hardworking Americans. 

At the same time, we are taking bold action to eliminate burdensome and unnecessary regulations so businesses can grow and hire faster, increase productivity, and unleash innovation like never before.  As President, I am committed to championing the everyday business owners who drive our local economies, ensuring that they can focus on their craft rather than being burdened with endless paperwork.  As an example of this unwavering commitment, my Administration moved quickly last year to suspend enforcement of the burdensome Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) reporting requirements for American small businesses, saving these small businesses nearly $130 billion in reduced paperwork and compliance costs. Under my leadership, we are again making products on our own shores and putting our jobs, industries, and businesses first.  My America First platform will never cease to strengthen domestic production and expand opportunities for our workers—fueling a new Golden Age for American enterprise.

Together, we will restore the American promise and advance the spirit of entrepreneurship that makes our country the land of opportunity.
