During National Women’s Health Week, my Administration reaffirms our commitment to improving the health and well-being of women and ensuring they have the opportunity to live longer, fuller, and healthier lives.

For far too long, our Nation’s standard of care has relied on temporary fixes, leaving countless women without answers, reliable information, or lasting treatments.  In our efforts to Make America Healthy Again, we are confronting these failures head on—tackling the root causes of illness, addressing the chronic diseases that disproportionately affect women, making healthcare more affordable, and replacing stopgap measures with solutions that last.

Earlier this year, my Administration launched the first-ever National Conference on Women’s Health, bringing together policy experts, leading researchers, and physicians to explore breakthroughs in research and technology and foster greater cooperation between the Federal Government and the private sector.  These advancements are shaping a new era of innovation for women’s healthcare—one focused on prevention, early detection, and more personalized treatment.  They are also driving long-overdue attention to conditions that have been dismissed and overlooked, including infertility, endometriosis, and autoimmune diseases, helping deliver meaningful progress and better health outcomes.  Under my leadership, we will continue to restore scientific integrity to ensure these discoveries are accessible, trustworthy, and impactful for women across every stage of life.    

My Administration is also working to ensure women have every resource available to protect and improve their health, ensuring real access to affordable care and accurate information that has the potential to transform lives.  We are working to lower drug prices, improve price transparency, and confront the high out-of-pocket healthcare costs that burden women and their families.  Through our Most-Favored-Nation drug pricing agreements and the launch of TrumpRx, we are delivering historic savings for the expensive, brand-name medicines—putting patients over profits. 

American women deserve the very best when it comes to their healthcare, and my Administration will continue to deliver historic results for them.  This week, we celebrate the incredible strides we have made and recommit to carrying this momentum forward like never before, forging a healthier future for every generation of women and girls.

This National Police Week, America honors the brave men and women of law enforcement who risk their lives daily to protect our communities. Under President Donald J. Trump, these heroes are respected, empowered, and supported — not defunded, demonized, or betrayed by the Radical Left.

After four years of Democrats’ war on police, President Trump has delivered decisive leadership that puts officers back in control — and the results are undeniable:

In 2025, the U.S. murder rate posted its largest single-year drop on record — plummeting to the lowest level in 125 years — with sharp declines across all violent crimes. Major cities saw massive homicide reductions, while rapes, robberies, assaults, shootings, officer deaths (an 80-year low), traffic fatalities, and overdoses all plunged. These historic gains are accelerating into 2026 — especially in cities like Washington, D.C., and Memphis, where President Trump deployed federal support to restore order and back local police.

These victories are the direct result of the Trump Administration’s unbreakable commitment to law and order:

• Imposing the death penalty for cop killers: President Trump directed the Department of Justice to aggressively seek capital punishment for those who murder police officers.
• Scrapping Democrats’ soft-on-crime mandates: The Trump Administration rescinded radical Biden-era orders pushing “alternatives to arrest” for violent offenders and restrictions that tied officers’ hands when using lawful force to make arrests.
• Empowering cities to clear the streets: States and localities now have stronger tools to remove disorderly vagrants and direct them toward treatment instead of enabling chaos.
• Restoring critical funding and delivering relief: The Working Families Tax Cuts Act restored and expanded Byrne JAG and COPS grants to fight violent crime — while delivering No Tax on Overtime for America’s hardworking officers so they can keep more of what they earn protecting us.
• Ending cashless bail: The Trump Administration halted federal support for the Radical Left’s “cashless bail” scheme that turned streets into revolving doors for dangerous criminals — and imposed consequences on jurisdictions that refused to act.
• Dismissing anti-police lawsuits and DEI mandates: Biden-era DOJ actions targeting local police and fire departments and weakening hiring standards were dropped to protect public safety — not political correctness.
• Reclaiming law enforcement’s authority: President Trump took bold action to promote aggressive, proactive policing based on proven best practices — while shielding officers from unjust expenses and liabilities so they can enforce the law without fear.
• Deploying backup to high-crime cities: The Trump Administration surged federal resources into high-crime Democrat-run cities — standing shoulder-to-shoulder with local police to crush chaos, restore order, and rescue communities long victimized by Democrat failures.
• Giving police the equipment they need: The Department of Justice reversed Biden-era restrictions and restored access to critical surplus military assets so local law enforcement has the tools to win.
• Targeting criminal illegal aliens: Federal agents are now empowered to support local police in removing violent criminal illegals, resulting in hundreds of thousands of arrests and removals that make communities safer.
• Slashing restrictive consent decrees: The Trump Administration launched an overhaul of federal consent decrees that micromanaged and hindered effective policing in cities across America.

Under President Trump, America’s police are stronger, our communities are safer, and the results prove it.

This week, our Nation commends the men and women who serve their fellow Americans through the impactful work of the Salvation Army.  These volunteers embody the very best of the American spirit and enrich our national life through their compassion and care.

Since 1865, the Salvation Army has provided faith to the weary, meals to the hungry, shelter to the homeless, and a renewed sense of security and purpose to those rebuilding their lives after years of hardship and addiction.  Their work is a living testament to our Nation’s enduring traditions of generosity, goodwill, and volunteerism. 

For 250 years, our Nation has been defined by an unyielding spirit of sacrifice and service that has always called ordinary Americans to do extraordinary things for one another.  During National Salvation Army Week, we carry that proud mission forward and pledge to always be a Nation devoted to “Doing the Most Good.”

A PROCLAMATION

On this Peace Officers Memorial Day, observed during our Nation’s time-honored Police Week, we pay tribute to the men and women of law enforcement who have devoted their lives to safeguarding our families and communities.  Our grateful country joins them in honoring the memory of the fallen officers who gave their lives protecting their fellow citizens, and we stand resolutely beside the families they left behind.  We also recognize those who have been injured in the line of duty and the families who have stood faithfully by their side through hardship and recovery, and we pledge our steadfast support to those who continue to wear the badge. 

Before I took office, America was gripped by a left-wing-fueled lawlessness that shook the very foundations of our society.  Through soft-on-crime policies, rampant illegal immigration, and reckless cashless bail programs, crime surged to historic heights while American families suffered and our cities descended into chaos — placing our brave officers needlessly in harm’s way.  Through it all, the officers standing on the front lines never faltered in their duty to protect the innocent and confront the guilty, yet they were too often hindered, and even punished, for carrying out the mission they had sworn to uphold. 

Since returning to office, I have worked to fulfill my promise to the American people that my Administration would restore law and order to every corner of this land.  I immediately directed Federal resources into our country’s most crime-ridden cities to assist local law enforcement, standing shoulder to shoulder with them in their vital mission.  We have also taken decisive action to end so called “sanctuary state” laws concocted by the Biden-Harris administration, where the price was paid in blood by innocent Americans and by the brave law enforcement officers forced to watch criminal illegal aliens walk free and commit horrific crimes that could have been prevented.  By stripping away these dangerous impediments to law enforcement, we are empowering police to do their jobs fully and freely, and the results speak for themselves — in our Nation’s capital, crime has fallen to the lowest level ever recorded, and peace has returned to the streets of many storied American cities.  Today, on-duty law enforcement officer deaths have dropped to an 80-year low — and we have seen dramatic reductions in rapes, robberies, aggravated assaults, shooting deaths, traffic fatalities, and overdose deaths. 

Last summer, I was proud to sign the Working Families Tax Cuts Act which includes no tax on overtime, ensuring our police officers can keep more of their hard-earned paycheck as they work tirelessly to keep our communities safe.  I also signed an Executive Order on Taking Steps to End Cashless Bail to Protect Americans, ending cashless bail within the Federal justice system for every offense that poses a clear danger to public safety.  Under my leadership, never again will our citizens be preyed upon by repeat offenders who belong behind bars.  I remain firmly committed to seeing that violent criminals are locked away, that law enforcement has every tool at their disposal to do their jobs well, and that American families can once again live in peace and safety from sea to shining sea.

On this Peace Officers Memorial Day, we solemnly commemorate the officers who gave their lives in the line of duty across our Nation.  Throughout Police Week, we honor the sacrifices of our law enforcement community and the families who stand beside them.  United in gratitude, we recommit ourselves to supporting those who keep the peace in our neighborhoods, and we offer our heartfelt appreciation for the service they render to community and country.  Their steady presence brings calm to our streets, their dedication preserves the order that allows our Nation to flourish, and their unwavering vigilance is the reason families across America can rest under the promise of a safer tomorrow.

By a joint resolution approved October 1, 1962, as amended (Public Law 87-726, 76 Stat. 676), and by Public Law 105-225 (36 U.S.C. 136-137), the President has been authorized and requested to designate May 15 of each year as “Peace Officers Memorial Day” and the week in which it falls as “Police Week.”

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim May 15, 2026, as Peace Officers Memorial Day and May 10 through May 16, 2026, as Police Week.  I call upon all Americans to observe this week with appropriate ceremonies and activities.  I also call on the Governors of the States and Territories and officials of other areas subject to the jurisdiction of the United States to direct that the flag be flown at half-staff on Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Today, President Donald J. Trump announced sweeping new initiatives to lower costs for families, expand access to fertility care, and deliver meaningful support for mothers across America. The actions include new federal guidance to encourage employers to provide fertility benefits, the launch of Moms.gov — a user-friendly, one-stop digital hub providing new and expectant mothers with essential resources — and major childcare reforms that increase access and affordability, expand provider choice, and better empower stay-at-home parents.

For 250 years, our Nation’s mothers have strengthened families, raised generations of faithful Americans, and instilled the enduring values that propel our country toward greatness.  This Mother’s Day, we celebrate the women whose unconditional love steadies us through every season of life.

So much of who we become begins with a mother’s example.  The confidence we carry and the lessons we live by are often first modeled by women who devote themselves wholly to seeing that our American Dreams come to life and that our potential remains unlimited.  Whether they are adoptive, natural, foster, or a guiding maternal figure, mothers cultivate our strength, unlock our talents, and encourage us to reach higher than we ever thought possible.  Behind every leader and trailblazer stands a strong and devoted woman who made that ascent a reality.

Yet mothers are not only the foundation of others’ success—they also carry their own ambitions and the strength to pursue them while raising strong families and nurturing a flourishing home.  In recognition of all that they do, my Administration remains committed to championing policies that support them and their families. 

Since I returned to office, we have permanently expanded the child tax credit, are lowering the cost of living, have reduced prices on expensive brand name medicines through TrumpRx, and are investing in our children’s futures through the historic creation of Trump Accounts.  A mother’s love is inseparable from her desire to do what is best for her family and children, so we have restored parental rights to our classrooms—and we are prioritizing school choice in federal grant programs, expanding access to private and faith-based education, and ensuring that no parent is forced to accept a one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to raising their children with the care and devotion they deserve.  We have stopped the flow of dangerous illegal immigrants and deadly drugs like fentanyl and secured the strongest border in American history so that more mothers never have to endure the unimaginable heartbreak carried by our heroic Angel Moms.  Our Nation’s mothers have supported us our entire lives with boundless love and commitment, and my Administration will never let them down.

Throughout every chapter of our national story, resilient mothers have defended our most cherished values and shaped the very fabric of our Republic.  As we celebrate Mother’s Day and 250 years of independence, we honor every mother who has faithfully passed the flame of American values to the next generation.  We especially pay tribute to the Gold Star Mothers whose children gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.  Above all, we treasure the mothers who teach us to honor our traditions, respect our great American Flag, and uphold the founding ideals that sustain our glorious way of life.

On May 10, 1775, a small band of American militiamen stunned the most powerful military in the world when they fearlessly wrestled Fort Ticonderoga from British control—delivering the first American offensive victory of the Revolutionary War and proving that the forces of liberty could triumph over the mightiest of empires.

After the outbreak of the Revolutionary War at the Battles of Lexington and Concord in April, American forces urgently needed to strengthen their firepower to break the British grip on Boston and secure their position in New England.  Answering the call to freedom, the legendary Green Mountain Boys—a militia from the New Hampshire Grants of present-day Vermont—set out on a daring mission to seize Fort Ticonderoga, a vulnerable British outpost in the Colony of New York that commanded a vital waterway and held a massive arsenal of artillery and cannons.  

In the early morning hours of May 10, this bold force of revolutionaries, under the joint command of the famed patriot Ethan Allen and the later treacherous Benedict Arnold, launched a surprise attack on the British garrison.  Catching the Redcoats off guard as they slept, the patriots seized the fort without firing a single shot, forcing the unprepared British soldiers to surrender with little resistance—marking the first major victory of the Revolutionary War.

The capture of Fort Ticonderoga proved to be an early turning point in the American Revolution.  Colonial forces gained critical ammunition, cannons, and mortars, which Colonel Henry Knox famously hauled hundreds of miles across unforgiving terrain to Boston by January of 1776—empowering the Continental Army to force a British retreat and cementing New England as an American stronghold.  The courage, ingenuity, and resolve of the patriots who stormed Fort Ticonderoga defined the fighting spirit that would ultimately drive our Nation to victory and secure our long-awaited independence.

On the 251st anniversary of the capture of Fort Ticonderoga, we honor the heroes who struck a decisive blow against British forces and earned their place in history as American legends.  And as we celebrate 250 glorious years of American independence, we recommit ourselves to preserving the liberty that they fought fearlessly to secure, and we pledge to ensure that the blessings of freedom remain the inheritance of generations to come.

Here’s what you need to know:

• The U.S. labor market is surging. The economy added 115,000 jobs in April — crushing economists’ expectations and delivering the second straight month of strong gains. In 2026, the economy has powered ahead with an average of 76,000 new jobs per month, a big leap from the 10,000 monthly average in 2025.
• Economists keep getting it wrong as they underestimate the strength of the Trump economy. 94% of Bloomberg economists (65 out of 69) completely missed April’s impressive growth, continuing their pattern of underestimating the momentum of the current expansion.
• American manufacturing is roaring back. The economy added 12,600 factory construction jobs in April alone, propelled by trillions in new investments flooding into advanced manufacturing and data centers. The first quarter of 2026 delivered the first manufacturing job growth since 2023, with every major indicator now flashing strong expansion after years of Biden-era decline.
• President Trump is dramatically shrinking the federal bureaucracy. His bold efforts have already slashed the federal workforce by 345,000 workers, making the federal government the smallest it has been since May 1966 — and the smallest it has ever been as a share of the total workforce.
• American workers are flooding back into the workforce. Prime-age labor force participation remains exceptionally strong, with prime-age female participation hovering near its all-time high and prime-age male participation at its highest level since 2009. Workers are proudly coming off the sidelines and powering the Trump Economy.

A PROCLAMATION

As we celebrate 250 glorious years of American freedom, we are reminded that this tremendous milestone is only possible thanks to our Armed Forces who, since the dawn of our Republic, pledged to defend our freedom no matter the cost.  Generation after generation, the gravity of this sacred commitment has been shared by their selfless spouses.  On Military Spouse Day, we honor the incredible women and men who serve this Nation.

Military spouses are vital to our national defense.  Their unwavering support of the home front enables our service members to protect our homeland and defend our liberty.  Every day, they balance the unique demands and disruption of a life of service with an uncommon resilience forged by frequent moves, lengthy deployments, and family separation.  In spite of the challenges, military spouses persevere not simply because they love their spouses but because they believe in the promise of America.

When duty calls, our military never fails to answer — and we must never fail to support and equip those who stand faithfully beside our warfighters.  During my first term, we fulfilled our pledge to improve employment policies for military spouses through expanded opportunities within the Federal Government, enhanced remote and flexible job options, and increased licensure portability.  We made great progress, but more work is needed in employment, quality housing, affordable childcare, accessible healthcare, and education.  As President, I remain committed to ensuring that our Armed Forces remain the strongest fighting force on Earth — and that our military spouses and families receive the support, care, and opportunities they deserve. 

The spouses of our service members share with their loved ones a noble but demanding calling.  In times of peace and in the crucible of conflict, they rise to meet every challenge and bear the pressures and sacrifices with relentless grace and fortitude.  Today, the First Lady and I join a grateful Nation in saluting these patriots and heroes.  May God bless our Armed Forces, our military spouses, and their families.
