Today, the First Lady and I send our best wishes on the occasion of the 90th edition of the Masters Tournament.

Few events capture our American spirit more than the Masters—where talent, discipline, and hard work unite on one of the most picturesque and challenging courses in the game of golf.

Each spring, players and fans from around the world return to Augusta, Georgia, where history is made on every fairway and each swing becomes part of America’s great sports legacy.  From the challenge of Amen Corner to the drama of Sunday afternoon, the Masters demands the best of the best.  Generations of champions have left their mark on these extraordinary grounds, and each year a new chapter is written in golf’s enduring story. 

This week at Augusta National Golf Club, players honor the past and inspire the future game of golf.  All golfers know that with every triumph, there is a setback, with every loss, there is a comeback story that personifies determination and the ability to persevere and prevail when pressure is the greatest.  It is what makes a true champion.  In that way, the Masters stands as a tribute to our rich history and a symbol of our bright, hopeful, joyous, prosperous, and exciting future—reflecting the same American spirit of excellence that will define our Nation’s new Golden Age for generations to come  

On the 90th playing of the Masters Tournament, Melania and I wish each competitor the very best in their pursuit of the prestigious Green Jacket.  We congratulate the Augusta National Women’s Amateur champion and all the young women who displayed incredible skill this past weekend.  And we send our best wishes to every American watching a “tradition unlike any other.”

President Donald J. Trump laid out clear objectives in Operation Epic Fury — and in just 38 days, the greatest fighting force the world has ever known has met those objectives with overwhelming strength and lethal precision. Iran has now agreed to a ceasefire and reopening the Strait of Hormuz as the Trump Administration negotiates a broader peace agreement — once more proving Peace Through Strength victorious.

• Secretary of War Pete Hegseth: “From the strike that took out Qasem Soleimani to tearing up the disastrous Obama Iran deal, to the precision campaign that obliterated Iran’s nuclear sites in Operation Midnight Hammer to the decisive military victory we just achieved in Operation Epic Fury, no other President has shown the courage and resolve of this Commander-in-Chief. President Trump forged this moment. Iran begged for this ceasefire — and we all know it.”

A Showcase of American Military Superiority:

• Iran’s ballistic missile arsenal and production capacity has been razed. More than 85% of the regime’s defense industrial base, including the majority of its ballistic missiles, launcher vehicles, and long-range attack drones, has been destroyed — eliminating its ability to project power and use these capabilities as a shield around their ultimate pursuit of nuclear weapons.
• Iran’s air forces have been functionally neutered. Before Operation Epic Fury, the Iranian air force would fly between 30 to 100 flights each day; today, that number is zero.
• Iran’s navy has been obliterated. 150 warships across 16 classes have been destroyed, every submarine has been sunk, and 97% of its once-massive inventory of naval mines have been eliminated.
• Iran can no longer arm terrorist proxies. The majority of the regime’s offensive weapons are destroyed and the regime can no longer manufacture new terror weapons like ballistic missiles and long-range drones.
• Iran’s once-vaunted space program has been devastated. 70% of its launch facilities and ground control stations have been destroyed or degraded, preventing the regime from using space for military purposes.
• What’s left of the Iranian regime is desperate, dejected, and in denial. Iran’s command and control structures have been shattered by more than 2,000 strikes, triggering leadership losses, paralysis, and military desertions.

The GENIUS Act, signed into law in July 2025, requires stablecoin issuers to maintain reserves backing outstanding stablecoins on at least a one-to-one basis. Reserves may only consist of certain specified assets, including US dollars, federal reserve notes, funds held at certain insured or regulated depository institutions, certain short-term Treasuries and Treasury-backed reverse repurchase agreements, and money market funds. It also prohibits stablecoin issuers from offering any form of interest or yield to stablecoin holders, but does not explicitly prohibit affiliate or third-party arrangements that might offer interest-bearing products. Some variants of the proposed CLARITY Act would close this channel. One rationale for prohibiting yield is that if stablecoins were to offer competitive returns, households may shift dollars out of traditional bank accounts and into tokens. Since stablecoin reserves are fully backed rather than fractionally lent, this could reduce bank lending. Some analyses estimate the effect on lending in the trillions of dollars (Nigrinis 2025). We build a simple model to evaluate these claims.

At baseline calibration of CEA’s model, eliminating stablecoin yield:

• Increases bank lending by $2.1 billion and has a net welfare cost of $800 million. That translates into an increase in lending of 0.02% and a cost-benefit ratio of 6.6.
• Large banks would conduct 76% of this additional lending, while community banks—which have assets below $10 billion—would lend the remaining 24%. In our baseline, that adds up to $500 million in additional lending from community banks, meaning their lending rising by 0.026%.

Even stacking every worst-case assumption, the model produces only $531 billion in additional aggregate lending, which corresponds to a 4.4% increase in bank loans as of 2025Q4. That figure requires the stablecoin market to grow to roughly six times its current size as a share of deposits, all reserves to be locked in unlendable cash rather than treasuries, and the Federal Reserve to abandon its current monetary framework. Even under those implausible conditions, community bank lending only rises by $129 billion, corresponding to an increase of 6.7%. The conditions for finding a positive welfare effect from prohibiting yield are similarly implausible. In short, a yield prohibition would do very little to protect bank lending, while forgoing the consumer benefits of competitive returns on stablecoin holdings.

Last night, President Donald J. Trump spoke via satellite with the crew of NASA’s historic Artemis II mission, becoming the first President to engage in interplanetary communication with astronauts beyond low-Earth orbit in over five decades. Artemis II marks humanity’s return to the lunar vicinity for the first time since Apollo 17 in 1972, taking astronauts farther from Earth than ever before — reaching nearly 253,000 miles — as they conduct critical observations of the Moon’s far side and pave the way for future missions.

President Trump praised the crew for their groundbreaking journey.

Amid growing legal chaos and financial pressures threatening athletic programs, the future of college sports is under serious threat. That is why, in response to calls from athletes, universities, and fans across the country, President Trump took decisive action by signing an urgent Executive Order to protect college sports, an essential American institution that supports over 500,000 student-athletes, drives local economies, provides nearly $4 billion in scholarships, and fuels U.S. Olympic dominance.

The President’s Executive Order protects college sports by using federal authority to support enforcement of clear, consistent, and fair rules on eligibility, transfers, and compensation, while promoting sustainable revenue-sharing and stronger protections for student-athletes. This action establishes critical guardrails to stabilize college athletics and protect opportunities across all sports— before it’s too late.

Lawmakers and sports leaders overwhelmingly support the President’s action to restore fairness, stability, and long-term sustainability to college athletics, praising his leadership across the industry.

During National Child Abuse Prevention Month, we renew our resolve that, in order to be a great Nation, we must raise our children with boundless love, care, and unfailing protection—and we vow to end the horrors of child abuse in every form.

Strong American families are the foundation of our strength and stability.  A safe and nurturing home is the most effective protection against neglect and abuse, giving every child the opportunity to grow, succeed, and achieve their own unique American Dream.  For this reason, I will continue to advance policies that support parents, strengthen families, and protect children from harm.

Under the previous administration, hundreds of thousands of unaccompanied children who entered our country were lost, with many being placed in the hands of smugglers and traffickers.  But under my leadership, we are once again protecting our Nation’s children and bringing the evildoers who endanger them to justice like never before.  As of January, just one year after I returned to office as the 47th President of the United States, my Administration has located more than 60,000 migrant children, most of whom were lost on Joe Biden’s watch, to ensure their safety.  We will continue working tirelessly to locate these missing children and end the scourge of human trafficking once and for all.

Tragically, child abuse has also become rampant online.  For this reason, last year, I proudly signed the TAKE IT DOWN Act—key legislation championed by First Lady Melania Trump—to shield children from harmful and abusive online content and criminalize the publication of non-consensual intimate images.  We are also further promoting the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) through the Presidential AI Challenge to advance innovation while protecting our children.

This National Child Abuse Prevention Month, we send our heartfelt prayers and support to every child who has been a victim of abuse.  We will never waver in our duty to protect the most innocent among us by restoring law and order, removing violent criminals from our streets, and dismantling human trafficking routes.  We will ensure that those who seek to harm our children will be met with swift consequences under the full force of American justice.  Above all, we pledge to fight for a greater future where every child is cherished as a divine blessing bestowed by God.

In an unconscionable betrayal of American safety and sovereignty, the previous administration empowered a violent wave of criminal illegal aliens to invade our Nation through a wide-open southern border.  Radical left-wing prosecutors turned our streets into warzones by allowing rapists and other criminals to walk free from punishment and terrorize innocent Americans.  Violent predators were put first; the American people were put last; and women, children, and families were left terrified in their communities.  These disastrous policies led to a preventable rise in sexual assaults across our country.  But since I returned to office, my Administration has swiftly reversed these heinous trends and made tremendous strides in eliminating the scourge of sexual assault.

As President, I immediately took action to end the invasion of violent illegal criminals pouring through our southern border and dismantle the human trafficking rings that have broken up families, abused women, and destroyed communities.  I initiated the largest mass deportation operation in American history to remove the worst of the worst criminals, rapists, gang members, and human smugglers who have wreaked havoc across our Nation.  And I deployed federal personnel and law enforcement resources to secure America’s most dangerous cities.  

Under my Administration, our southern border has been sealed, and dangerous sexual offenders are no longer being unleashed into our country.  Thousands of rapists have been prosecuted and removed from our streets, and our Nation has seen reductions in sexual assaults and all forms of violent crime.  America is now safer than it has been in over a century—and our work is only just beginning.

This month, we stand with every survivor of sexual assault, and we pledge to never waver in our fight to protect our people and communities.  We will not rest until every city in America is safe, every victim receives justice, and every sexual predator is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

This National Financial Literacy Month, we encourage every citizen to take control of their financial future so they can achieve their own American Dream.  As we work to lower costs and expand opportunity, building the knowledge and confidence to make smart financial decisions will empower individuals and families to create lasting success.

Since returning to office last year, I have spared no time in rebuilding the American economy through America First policies that support domestic manufacturing, job growth, and rising wages.  Last year, I signed the One Big Beautiful Bill into law, delivering major tax cuts for the American middle class, including no tax on tips and no tax on overtime, putting more money into the pockets of our workers and families.  With these gains comes greater opportunity for Americans to take charge of their finances.   

We are also investing in the next generation through the creation of Trump Accounts, a historic initiative that provides $1,000 to every child born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028, placed into a long-term savings account that grows as your child grows.  Parents will oversee these accounts until age 18, when young Americans can then use these funds to pursue higher education, buy their first home, or start a business.  This account represents my hope in the tremendous potential of America’s young people, whose hard work sustains America’s greatness.

As we look to the future, we are embracing new financial technologies while making sure Americans are prepared to use them wisely.  Under my leadership, we are making the United States the crypto capital of the world—cultivating a pro-innovation environment that embraces blockchain and digital finance instead of prohibiting it.

Through the United States Department of the Treasury, we are also expanding access to free financial education resources.  Initiatives like the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation’s Money Smart program help Americans learn the basics of budgeting, saving, building credit, and protecting their money.

This month, I urge all Americans to invest in themselves by increasing their financial literacy—because the American promise is fully achieved when our citizens take the initiative to save, invest, and build a glorious American future.

This National Cancer Control Month, my Administration stands alongside the countless brave Americans battling cancer.  We pause to honor the memories of those we have lost to this vicious disease, we recognize the strength and resilience of the 18 million cancer survivors in the United States, and we remain committed to unleashing innovation and advancing policies that support better treatments and a cure.

Every day, more than 5,000 Americans are diagnosed with cancer—totaling more than 2 million cases annually.  While survival rates are rising, cancer remains the second leading cause of death in the United States.  Just last year, estimates show that our Nation tragically lost more than 600,000 souls, leaving unfillable holes in families and communities across our country.

Americans can take several proactive steps to reduce their chances of developing cancer.  Maintaining a healthy weight and diet, limiting alcohol and tobacco consumption, and regularly exercising are all proven to lower cancer risks.  Routine cancer screenings are essential for early detection, offering the best chance for successful treatment and improved survival rates. 

My Administration is steadfastly committed to eradicating this disease from our country by harnessing the full spirit of American ingenuity.  In February of this year, I signed the Mikaela Naylon Give Kids a Chance Act, which opens up new treatment options for our youngest patients, giving them access to the same potentially life-saving, cutting-edge treatments currently available to adults.  And last September, I signed an Executive Order to advance artificial intelligence to unlock cures and prevention strategies for pediatric cancer and transform how health data is used in clinical research and practice.  

This month, we honor all those affected by cancer and the families who support them with love and strength.  Together, we will continue to strengthen preventative efforts, improve treatments, and move closer to a cancer-free future.
