During the Days of Remembrance of Victims of the Holocaust, our Nation remembers the more than 6 million innocent Jewish lives taken in one of the most horrific atrocities and worst acts of anti-Semitism in human history; we commemorate the Roma and Sinti, Slavic and Polish people, persons with disabilities, Soviet prisoners of war, Jehovah’s Witnesses, people targeted for their sexual orientation, and countless others who were victims of the Holocaust; and we renew our unwavering commitment to ensuring that such evil is vanquished forever.

On Yom HaShoah, we recall the horrors Nazi Germany inflicted across Europe during the harrowing years of the Second World War, where men, women, and children of many backgrounds were subjected to vicious acts of persecution, degradation, and death by methods beyond comprehension. Yet, in the midst of this unfathomable darkness, the resilience of the human spirit endured.

From the outset of my Administration, I have taken decisive action to defend the God-given worth of every human being.  By establishing the Federal Task Force to Combat Antisemitism, my Administration is bolstering coordination across federal agencies in an effort to prevent acts of hatred and violence in our streets and on our college campuses that were allowed to spread under my predecessor. I am directing the Department of Justice to relentlessly pursue those who threaten or harm Jewish Americans, and we will not stop until every case of terrorism perpetrated against the Jewish people is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

As our Nation marks these Days of Remembrance, we honor the memory of all who were murdered and vow to never forget the victims of the Holocaust—the most heinous violation of human dignity in the history of the world. Together, we reaffirm our solemn obligation to stand guard against antisemitism in every form and carry forward the enduring legacy of the more than 6 million innocent souls of the Holocaust with vigilance and unwavering resolve.  May the memories of all who perished forever be a blessing.

With Tax Day right around the corner, President Donald J. Trump is delivering on his promise to put working Americans first. Through historic tax relief, higher wages, and a manufacturing resurgence, his policies are delivering real results for families and service workers across the country.

To highlight his tax agenda, President Trump ordered DoorDash straight to the White House. The delivery driver was Sharon Simmons — a full-time Dasher since 2021. For Sharon, this work is her primary source of income, and like millions of gig workers, restaurant servers, and bartenders, she relies on tips.

Sharon received $11,000 in tips last year — and thanks to President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cuts, her tips are now tax free. Those savings have been especially meaningful because in 2024, her husband reduced his work hours due to cancer treatment. Sharon has been able to retain her tips to pay for her husband’s cancer treatment debt, supplement her husband’s reduced income, and afford travel expenses to visit family.

Sharon is just one of the millions of American workers who are seeing the real results of President Trump’s signature Working Families Tax Cuts.

• No Tax on Tips: More than 5.5 million Americans have claimed No Tax on Tips so far, with an average deduction of over $7,100.
• No Tax on Overtime: Over 25 million Americans have claimed No Tax on Overtime so far, with an average deduction of over $3,000.
• Higher Pay: The typical hardworking family is seeing a boost in take-home pay of over $10,000 per year.
• Broad- Based Tax Relief: Americans earning $15,000-$80,000 per year are receiving a 15% average tax cut.
• Simpler, Larger Standard Deduction: The doubled standard deduction – used by 91% of taxpayers – is even larger, ensuring taxpayers keep more of their money with a simpler tax break.
• Support for Working Families: The law expands childcare access and makes the paid leave tax credit permanent.

American workers are seeing real gains.

• Manufacturing Resurgence: Manufacturing is roaring back under President Trump. The sector added 15,000 new jobs in March, capping off the first quarter of 2026 with the first positive manufacturing job growth in three years — a decisive reversal from the Biden-era decline. In fact, every major indicator now points toward sustained expansion as President Trump’s tariffs and pro-manufacturing policies take hold.
• Construction is Surging: Another 26,000 construction jobs were added in March, propelled by strong gains in specialty trades and residential building.
• Wages are Rising: Private sector weekly earnings have climbed 3.9% over the past year, delivering real gains for American workers.
• Prime-Age Workers are Re-Entering the Labor Force: Women aged 25-54 hit a record-high labor force participation rate in March, while prime-age male participation remains near its highest level since 2009.

The Council of Economic Advisers today announced the release of the 2026 Economic Report of the President.

The Economic Report of the President is prepared annually by the Council of Economic Advisers, providing a comprehensive review of the past year’s economic policies and their impact on current and future economic conditions. This year’s Report breaks down 14 topics of importance to the economy and to American families.

Each of the Report’s chapters delves deeply into one of the Administration’s policy priorities.

1. Chapter 1: The Economic and Fiscal Benefits of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act provides estimates for the economic and fiscal impact of the OBBBA, including on GDP, wages, and debt;
2. Chapter 2: Promoting Prosperity through Regulatory Reform measures the cost of regulations and estimates the savings from deregulatory reforms undertaken by the Trump Administration;
3. Chapter 3: Rebuilding America’s International Trade Policy articulates the economic framework underpinning the Trump Administration’s America First trade policy and its early successes;

A PROCLAMATION

On what would have been his 249th birthday, we honor the life and enduring legacy of Henry Clay — a true American original, whose incredible vision and lifetime of devoted service to our Republic helped forge the very Union we cherish so deeply.

Born in the midst of the Revolutionary War on April 12, 1777, Clay rose from humble beginnings in Virginia to stand among the most consequential statesmen this country has ever produced.  He represented the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the United States Congress, where he became the driving force behind what became known as the American System, championing strong protective tariffs to defend and develop domestic industry, a sound national financial structure to support growth and commerce, and Federal investment in roads, canals, and other internal improvements to bind the Nation together.  The American System served as a practical blueprint for national strength, national unity, and national self-reliance.

Henry Clay understood that our Nation’s political independence must rest on a firm foundation of economic independence.  He knew that sovereignty is never merely political.  It is industrial.  It is financial.  It is commercial.  He understood that when a Nation can no longer make what it needs, move what it makes, or defend the workers who sustain it, that Nation risks losing not only prosperity, but independence itself.

Throughout his time in public office, he never wavered in his fight for America’s economic independence during the most formative years of our country.  Clay would go on to wield the gavel as Speaker of the House and serve with distinction in the Senate, and in 1825, he assumed the office of Secretary of State under President John Quincy Adams.  Throughout his career, he was nominated for President three times — shaping the national debate with each campaign and contributing significantly to the advancement of American greatness.

As we commemorate 250 glorious years of American independence, it is especially fitting that we honor a statesman whose legacy is one of strength, vision, patriotism, and an unshakable belief in the greatness of the American Republic.  Our country is strengthened by the memory of great statesmen who, like Henry Clay, devoted their lives to public service and led our people through times of both hardship and triumph.

In honor of this American titan, and to celebrate his pivotal role in the story of our Nation, I am proud to direct the White House Office of Administration to redesignate Room 208 of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, the historic office of the Secretary of State, as the Henry Clay Room.

As we remember the life and contributions of Henry Clay, we carry forward his unshakable belief in the promise of America and honor the timeless example of a patriot who always placed country above self.  May his memory always inspire each new generation of Americans to greatness, and may the Union he worked so mightily to preserve stand tall, united, and strong for centuries to come.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim April 12, 2026, as a day of celebration in honor of the life of Henry Clay.

President Donald J. Trump and his Administration are moving with decisive force to secure our borders and rapidly deport dangerous criminal illegal aliens. Democrats in Congress, however, are attempting to sabotage these efforts as they block critical funding for the Department of Homeland Security and shield sanctuary jurisdictions that harbor these monsters — leaving Americans defenseless against horrific violence and attacks.

In just the first months of 2026, the Trump Administration has arrested scores of depraved illegal alien killers, rapists, and violent sexual predators who were enabled, protected, and unleashed by the Radical Left’s open borders agenda — policies Democrats are desperate to restore.

• Kenneth Moreno Guzman, a Mexican illegal alien, is charged with the horrific rape of an 11-year-old girl in Georgia while holding her 10-year-old sister at knifepoint in the same room. This sick monster broke into the family’s home through the back door, then raped the young girl in front of her terrified little sister. The predator, who had been previously removed from the country, later told police he was “attracted” to the child.
• Samuel Antonio Maldonado-Erazo, a Honduran illegal alien, is charged with the savage first-degree murder of his own three-year-old U.S. citizen nephew in Florida. This sick monster beat the toddler to death with at least 17 strikes to the head, plus extensive bruising, intentional burns, a broken collarbone, a transected pancreas, multiple broken ribs (one completely detached from the spine), and signs of possible sexual abuse. Previously deported, he illegally re-entered and was released into the country under the Biden Administration.
• Zaid Mayen-Esteban and Jonathan David Garcia-Larios, two Mexican illegal aliens, are charged in a sickening torture and brutal home invasion in North Carolina. These depraved monsters broke into the victim’s home, restrained him at knifepoint, sodomized him, and ripped off his fingernails in a grotesque act of pure evil. One of these animals had already been deported in 2024 before illegally re-entering to commit this nightmare.
• Francisco Mendez-Marin, a Mexican illegal alien, is charged with the brutal murder of his newlywed wife in Texas just weeks after their marriage. The depraved killer slit her throat with a pocketknife, then casually told police he “didn’t do anything bad” and “was obligated to do it.”
• Cristian Nunez-Guzman, a Mexican illegal alien, is charged with raping and sexually assaulting two young girls in Ohio — including a girl with special needs. This sick predator, previously deported in 2012 after drug convictions, preyed on the most vulnerable.
• Carlos Aguilar Reynoso, a Guatemalan illegal alien, is charged with the horrific rape of a five-year-old girl he was babysitting in New York. The innocent child, whose mother returned home to discover blood in her underwear, suffered such severe internal injuries that she required surgery.
• Misael Lopez Gomez, a Guatemalan illegal alien, is charged with the cold-blooded murder of his own three-month-old daughter in Virginia. This heartless monster, who was released into the country under the Biden Administration, allegedly killed the infant through blunt force trauma.
• Abdul Jalloh, a Sierra Leonean illegal alien, is charged with the random, savage murder of a mother at a bus stop in Virginia. This vicious thug — who allegedly stabbed the innocent woman more than 30 times — has dozens of prior arrests for violent crimes.
• Bairon Alexander Posada-Hernandez, a Honduran illegal alien, is charged with murder after shoving an 83-year-old Air Force veteran and another innocent bystander onto the New York City subway tracks. This career criminal — whose unprovoked attack left the veteran dead — was on the streets of the sanctuary city despite four prior deportations and 15 prior criminal charges.

These horrific crimes are the direct and deadly result of Radical Left policies that prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens. President Trump demands Democrats immediately fund DHS to continue removing these savage threats from our communities.

In this Administration, American lives come first.

On his historic trip to Budapest, Vice President JD Vance reinforced a new era of U.S.-Hungary bilateral cooperation in energy, technology, and security. The achievements outlined below advance a shared bilateral agenda rooted in innovation, strategic stability, and long‑term economic and security partnership.

Strengthening Energy Cooperation

• U.S. Crude Oil Purchases: Hungary’s energy company, MOL Group, purchased 510,000 tons of crude oil worth $500 million from the United States and American energy companies to deepen our strategic energy partnership. 
• Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Study: Under the Intergovernmental Agreement focused on civil nuclear energy, the United States is supporting a front-end engineering and design (FEED) study to facilitate the deployment in Hungary of a new U.S. SMR, ensuring Hungary’s role as a key partner in European energy security. The FEED study paves the way for Hungary to move forward with the purchase and construction of up to 10 U.S. SMRs, with a potential total value of $20 billion. Several U.S. companies including GE Vernova, Holtec, and Westinghouse signed MOUs with Hungary’s electricity provider, MVM, on SMR collaboration. 
• Lifetime extension of Paks1: Westinghouse and MVM signed MOUs to explore the use of Westinghouse technology to extend the lifetime use of the Paks 1 nuclear power plant and to collaborate on SMR technology. This MOU, which builds on the November 2025 agreement for Westinghouse to supply nuclear fuel, will further bolster Hungary’s energy security through U.S. cooperation.

Deepening Commercial Ties and AI Cooperation 

• GE Healthcare and Semmelweis University signed an MOU to create an Oncology Center of Excellence in Hungary that leverages U.S. medical technology and AI-based innovation to improve cancer care for Hungarian patients and expand access to advanced American healthcare solutions. 
• Microsoft Corporation, the Government of Hungary, and Gábor Dénes University signed an MOU to bring digital and AI training solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises to boost technological readiness.
• Microsoft and the Government of Hungary signed an MOU to secure digital infrastructure for public institutions through Sovereign Cloud solutions.

Advancing Regional Peace, Security, and Defense Cooperation

• Procurement of U.S. High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS): Hungary announced plans to procure $700 million worth of U.S. HIMARS and integrate them into its defense planning, enhancing Hungary’s ability to deter aggression while supporting American manufacturing jobs and strengthening NATO’s collective defense posture along the Eastern Flank.
• Secure Communications MOU: L3 Harris and 4iG signed an MOU seeking to incorporate L3 Harris communication technology into Hungary’s HIMARS program, ensuring interoperability with NATO and U.S. forces.
• Space and Defense Cooperation Agreement: Northrop Grumman and 4iG announced a new joint effort to develop a geosynchronous satellite capability for Hungary, with the objective of advancing national security, space, resilience, and helping to maintain and expand the U.S. industrial base for geosynchronous satellites.

Since President Donald J. Trump returned to office, the United States has launched the most aggressive and successful immigration enforcement overhaul in modern history — and that extends to immigration courts. After four years of Biden-era chaos turned immigration courts into de facto amnesty factories for unvetted illegals, the Trump Administration is remaking the broken system.

President Trump took decisive action, replacing activist judges — who slow-walked deportations and granted asylum at sky-high rates — with professionals committed to enforcing the law, not undermining it.

No more activist judges shielding criminal illegals. No more endless delays. Only results.

• Asylum grant rates have collapsed: Under President Trump, asylum is now granted in just 7% of cases — a historic low, plummeting from over 50% rubber-stamped under Biden.
• Deportations and removal orders are surging: In fiscal year 2025, immigration courts issued nearly 500,000 removal orders — a 57% increase over the prior year — as criminal illegals are removed faster and in far greater numbers than ever before.
• The massive court backlog is being slashed: Hundreds of thousands of cases have already been cleared since Inauguration Day, with reductions accelerating every month — ending the years-long delays that let illegals remain indefinitely.
• Overall enforcement is delivering results: More than three million illegals have left the country in President Trump’s second term — the largest reduction in illegal immigration in modern history — while zero illegals have been released at the border for 11 straight months.

President Trump promised to end the open borders nightmare — and he is delivering on that promise with unrelenting force. The era of catch-and-release, mass releases, and activist judicial amnesty is over.

class=”has-text-align-center”>White House CEQ outlines “CE-first” approach to streamline NEPA reviews.

Today, the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) issued a new guidance for Federal departments and agencies on how to establish, revise, adopt, and apply categorical exclusions (CE) in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). This guidance will relieve infrastructure projects from excessive permitting burdens and further the President’s deregulatory agenda to slash costs, unleash growth, and save Americans billions.

NEPA provides that agencies can establish “categorical exclusions” for actions that normally don’t have significant effects. Then, when an agency takes an action of that type, the agency can fulfil its NEPA obligations in a streamlined way instead of writing an analysis from scratch.

“It should never take longer to permit a critical infrastructure project than it takes to build it. Federal permitting needs to work better and the Trump administration is committed to making that happen,” said Council on Environmental Quality Chairman Katherine Scarlett. “Today, we’re announcing guidance to help agencies identify an off-ramp from unnecessary levels of environmental review, where appropriate. By focusing analysis on where it’s truly needed, American infrastructure projects can move forward more efficiently while maintaining practical environmental standards.”

The guidance takes into account the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023 amendments to NEPA and CEQ’s recent repeal of its NEPA implementing regulations. CEQ has long emphasized the importance of CEs as a core feature of NEPA practice to facilitate efficient and effective reviews in accordance with Congress’s intent.

In addition to this guidance, CEQ recently launched technology tools to streamline the process of applying CEs. The tools include the Categorical Exclusion Explorer, an online searchable database of existing CEs across Federal agencies, along with its pilot program, CE Works, a technology platform that digitizes the process of completing a CE.

Following four brutal years of suffering, sacrifice, and unthinkable tragedy during the Civil War, the fate of the Union was secured in triumph when General Robert E. Lee formally issued his surrender to General Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox Court House—ending the war, healing the wounds of division, and restoring the full glory of the American promise.

In the final days leading to that epic moment, the Army of Northern Virginia, led by General Lee, was worn down by hunger, exhaustion, and the relentless advance of General Grant’s Army of the Potomac.  The excruciating toll of the Civil War weighed heavily all across the country:  Hundreds of thousands of American lives were lost, families were torn apart, brother met brother on the field of battle, and our Nation’s most sacred values and commitments stood in grave peril.  By the spring of 1865, Confederate forces were cut off from reserves and surrounded on all fronts—and the culmination of our Nation’s most horrific war fell at the hands of these two great men of history in a humble home in the Virginia countryside.

While the shadow of the war loomed across the small parlor, on April 9, 1865, violence and bloodshed gave way to a burgeoning peace.  General Grant understood that rebuilding a united America depended on the terms of surrender.  Rather than demanding harsh punishment for General Lee’s men, he offered a unifying message:  “The war is over.  The Rebels are our countrymen again.”  At last, the war-torn Union began the course for reconstruction and the path to fulfilling the founding principles that first breathed life into our Republic 250 years ago.

To this day, the surrender at Appomattox stands as an enduring testament to the resilience of a divided Nation, the strength and resolve of the American people, and the sacred ideals at the heart of our national identity.  Today, we recommit to the eternal truth that the United States of America is blessed from on high; bound together by justice; and was, is, and will forever be one Nation under God.

This National Former Prisoner of War Recognition Day, we honor every American service member who returned home after enduring the horrors of captivity by enemy forces during times of war.  My Administration will always uphold the promise to leave no warrior behind and to bring home the missing souls from every war or conflict.

No one is more deserving of our Nation’s appreciation than the former prisoners of war (POWs) who put their lives on the line for freedom’s cause and survived brutality and violence beyond all comprehension for the sake of our posterity.  These brave warriors endured unthinkable atrocities, torture, mental and physical abuse, separation from family, and horrendous living conditions.  Their selflessness and strength deserve our everlasting respect, and as Commander in Chief, I will never stop fighting for these exceptional heroes and all of our incredible veterans.

This year, as we celebrate 250 glorious years of American independence, we are reminded that this milestone is possible only because brave men and women from every generation answered the call of liberty when it was in peril.  As our American Flag flies high over a Nation made free by their sacrifice, the POW/MIA flag flies at federal sites just below it—a requirement I was proud to sign into law during my first term—to serve as a constant reminder of those still missing in action and our duty to account for them and bring them home. 

As we pause today to celebrate the POWs who returned home, we also acknowledge their families who lived for months and years in a prison of uncertainty and fear while awaiting news of their loved ones.  This unimaginable sacrifice deserves our utmost gratitude, admiration, and awe.

Our returned POWs represent the best of America.  They understand what it means to serve a cause greater than self, and their names and stories should never be forgotten by a people forever in their debt.  Today and every day, we honor their extraordinary sacrifices, courage, patriotism, and resilience.
