Estimating the Cost of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to Consumers

Source: United States White House

class=”has-heading-3-font-size”>Key Takeaways

  • The regulatory burden imposed by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has increased the compliance and liability costs associated with consumer financial products, which financial institutions pass on to consumers in the form of higher prices and reduced product offerings. The Council of Economic Advisers (CEA) estimates that since 2011, the CFPB has cost consumers between $237-$369 billion, including fiscal costs, increased borrowing expenses, and reduced originations.
  • Of the total above, CEA finds that increased borrowing costs amount to at least $222-$350 billion[1] ($160-253 per borrower) from the CFPB’s inception in 2011 through 2024.
    • Broken down by loan type, the CFPB’s rulemaking has cost consumers $116-$183 billion in higher mortgage costs ($1,100-$1,700 per originated loan), $32-$51 billion for auto loans ($91-$143 per loan), and $74-$116 billion for credit cards ($80-$126 per loan). These costs significantly surpass the CFPB’s reported $21 billion returned to consumers (about $15 per borrower).
  • In 2024 alone, the CEA estimates the combined annual cost of credit for mortgages, autos, and credit cards is between $24-$38 billion.
  • CEA also estimates that the higher borrowing costs from CFPB policies significantly reduced loan originations, resulting in an economic efficiency loss of between $1.5-$5.7 billion to consumers.
  • The annual paperwork burden alone from CFPB rules exceeds 29 million hours or the equivalent of 14,100 full-time employees spending all of their time on documentation and reporting requirements at a conservative cost of just under $2.5 billion. From 2011 to 2024, the Bureau’s paperwork burden costs have  cost businesses $21 billion.[2]
  • The CFPB has received $8.9 billion in total transfers from the Federal Reserve between 2011 and 2024 when adjusted for inflation. Since funds transferred to the CFPB would otherwise have been transferred to the US Treasury, the lost revenue results in a marginal excess tax burden (METB) of $4.4 billion. Taken together, the fiscal cost of the CFPB since inception is over $13 billion.

President George Washington’s Birthday, 2026

Source: United States White House

class=”has-text-align-center”>By the President of the United States of America

A Proclamation

Today, our Nation honors President George Washington, our foremost American hero, the face of the American Revolution, and a champion of American liberty.  On President Washington’s Birthday, particularly as we celebrate 250 glorious years of American independence, we pay tribute to the father of our country, and with immeasurable pride and gratitude, we salute his unwavering fidelity to law, liberty, and the common good.  As we chart the course toward the next 250 years of our great American story, we commit to forging a future that emulates his grace, imitates his courage, and mirrors his unshakable devotion to the promise of freedom.

Born in the Virginia Colony in 1732, George Washington was first commissioned as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1754, fighting in the early stages of the French and Indian War before serving in the Virginia House of Burgesses, where he grew increasingly outspoken against the British Crown’s reign of taxation and tyranny.  He assembled a band of farmers, frontiersmen, blacksmiths, and merchants to create the Continental Army, eventually leading them to victory at Yorktown over the British Army and their Hessian allies.

Through every triumph and tribulation, he carried himself with unfailing dignity and resolve.  When defeat seemed all but certain during Christmas of 1776, he rallied his men to cross the Delaware River and wrested victory at Trenton.  When faced with insurmountable odds and threats of mutiny during the brutal winter at Valley Forge, he persevered and prevailed.  When decades of war and public service left him weary and longing for solitude, he continued selflessly answering duty’s call.  When Europe descended into warfare, he courageously put our national interests and the cause of peace first.  And when confronted with a violent uprising from rogue actors during the Whiskey Rebellion, he defended the rule of law and our Constitution with confidence and strength.  Time and again, when any other man would have surrendered to despair, Washington pressed forward with unmatched determination.

Despite his desire to exit public life and enjoy the fruits of retirement, Washington presided over the Constitutional Convention at Independence Hall and was later unanimously elected as our first President in 1789 — serving two terms before voluntarily relinquishing power and returning home to his beloved Mount Vernon, setting the precedent for the new Republic.  Upon his retirement, King George III, once Washington’s political foe, hailed him as “the greatest man of the age.”  By the time of his death, he commanded the respect of the entire world.

Among President Washington’s greatest legacies is his timeless insistence that, in order to be a great Nation, America must be a Nation that prays and gives thanks to our Creator.  As he famously declared in his Farewell Address, “virtue or morality is a necessary spring of popular government,” and our faith in God is indispensable to our prosperity and strength.

Driven by his relentless tenacity until his very last breath, Washington was a champion of American sovereignty, a brilliant unifier and tactician, and a man of devout faith and incorruptible conscience — and his visionary leadership remains forever imprinted on the soul of our Nation.

Following President Washington’s death in December of 1799, the great Henry Lee declared that Washington was “first in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen.”  To this very day, he remains the first in our hearts and souls — and his courage and resolve remain the birthright of every American citizen.  As we pay tribute to our first Commander in Chief and set our eyes toward our next 250 years of liberty, we pledge to build a future that honors his legacy, cherishes his wisdom, and restores America as one glorious Nation under God.

It is therefore fitting that as we celebrate what would have been his 294th birthday — and as we commemorate 250 years of American freedom and independence — we pause to offer our gratitude for President Washington’s gallant life of public service.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim February 16, 2026, as a reserved holiday commemorating President George Washington’s Birthday.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this sixteenth day of February, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-six, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fiftieth.

President Trump Celebrates America’s New Golden Age on Presidents’ Day

Source: United States White House

On this Presidents’ Day, President Donald J. Trump honors the enduring spirit of American leadership by reflecting on the extraordinary progress achieved in his second term. Under his decisive leadership, the nation has experienced a historic turnaround: inflation has plummeted to its lowest levels in years; the stock market has soared to unprecedented heights; our great military stands stronger than ever; law enforcement is empowered; the border is more secure than at any point in history; and violent crime has plunged to record lows across our cities.

These victories mark the dawn of a new Golden Age of American greatness — where hardworking American citizens are safer, more prosperous, and prouder than ever before.

Prices and inflation are way down.

President Trump’s decisive economic policies are delivering real relief to American families by slashing inflation, restoring affordability, and increasing take-home pay — paving the way for a Golden Era of prosperity.

  • Core inflation — the best measure of inflation — has dropped to its lowest level in nearly five years, underscoring the sustained progress made in the Trump Economy.
  • In President Trump’s first year back in office, real earnings for private-sector workers have significantly outpaced inflation, putting nearly $1,400 more in workers’ pockets and beginning to reverse the nearly $3,000 they lost under Biden.

President Trump is also fulfilling his promise to lower costs for hardworking Americans. Key prices dropped in January and over the past year:

  • The prices of staple food items like beef, eggs, and coffee are declining, reflecting the success of President Trump’s pro-growth, anti-inflation agenda and targeted efforts to tackle high costs in essential areas.
  • Energy prices fell last month, while gasoline prices reaching some of the lowest levels in years.
  • Prescription drug prices are down over the past year — with even greater savings on the horizon from President Trump’s landmark drug pricing reforms and the Great Healthcare Plan.

The stock market and 401(k)s are way up.

The stock market has rebounded strongly under President Trump’s leadership — with each of the major stock market indices hitting record high after record high, creating trillions in new wealth for American families.

  • The Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500, and Nasdaq have all shattered multiple all-time highs, with the S&P surging nearly 40% from its early-year low and the Dow surpassing 50,000 for the first time ever.
  • 401(k) balances for millions of workers have grown substantially, delivering the largest gains in history and securing brighter retirements for hardworking Americans.

Our military is strong and powerful.

President Trump has rebuilt and strengthened the U.S. military, ensuring it remains the most powerful and respected fighting force in the world — ready to deter threats and protect American interests.

  • Defense spending has hit record levels, fueling modernization, a revitalized industrial base, and the strongest force in American history — with recruitment surging to record highs.
  • Renewed leadership and emphasis on strengthening the American warfighter has allowed the Trump Administration to conduct remarkable military actions, including destroying Iran’s nuclear weapons capability and the capture of narcoterrorist Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela.

Our law enforcement is great.

Our brave law enforcement officers are backed like never before — with resources, respect, and tools to keep our communities safe.

  • President Trump’s pro-law enforcement agenda has empowered police to pursue criminals without fear, driving down crime across the nation.
  • Federal partnerships with state and local forces have driven crime rates in Democrat-run cities to historic lows.

Our border is 100% secure.

Thanks to President Trump’s bold actions — including declaring a national emergency, deploying military support, ending catch-and-release, and aggressive enforcement—the southern border is more secure than at any time in modern history.

  • U.S. Border Patrol apprehensions have plunged to historic lows, with January seeing apprehensions along the Southwest border plummet to 93% below historical averages, and zero releases into the interior for nine straight months.
  • Nationwide encounters remain at record lows, marking the most secure border in U.S. history.

Murders and crime are at record lows.

After years of chaos, skyrocketing crime, and soft-on-crime policies under Radical Left policies plunged the nation’s biggest cities into anarchy and disorder, President Trump took office on a promise to restore public safety — and he has delivered.

  • New data shows steep declines across every major violent crime category in 2025 compared to the prior year: overall murders down 19%, robberies down 20%, and aggravated assaults down nearly 10%.
  • The murder rate in the nation’s biggest cities has fallen to its lowest level in at least 125 years — marking the largest single-year drop in recorded history. Beyond murders, the nation also saw dramatic reductions in rapes, robberies, aggravated assaults, shooting deaths (fewest since 2015), on-duty law enforcement officer deaths (80-year low), traffic fatalities, and overdose deaths.

Presidential Message on Susan B. Anthony Day

Source: United States White House

Today, we honor the life and legacy of Susan B. Anthony—a true American giant and an unwavering advocate for the cause of human dignity.  On what would have been her 206th birthday, we recommit to the timeless truth she spent her life defending:  that every human being is made in the holy image of God.

Susan B. Anthony was a champion for women’s suffrage, abolition, the sanctity of life, and the dignity of work.  During her storied life, she co-founded the National Woman Suffrage Association, traveled the Nation delivering inspiring speeches to crowds of thousands, and never stopped fighting to advance the cause of liberty.  Her tireless efforts later laid the foundation for the ratification of the 19th Amendment—securing women’s right to vote.  Anthony is also remembered for her fierce moral clarity in condemning abortion and her steadfast work to end slavery.

My Administration is proudly carrying forth the torch of Anthony’s legacy by fearlessly protecting life, women, and families.  We are bolstering federal support for adoption, expanding vital resources for expectant mothers, defending equal opportunities for women and girls in athletics, ending taxpayer-funded abortion, and upholding the First Amendment freedoms that made Anthony’s extraordinary advocacy possible.

As we honor the monumental contributions of Susan B. Anthony to our great American story, we recommit as one people to building a Nation where every citizen can thrive, every child is cherished, and the blessings of liberty and justice are secured for all.

As we await the roar of engines at the starting line of the Daytona 500, we celebrate the “Great American Race” as an iconic showcase of our Nation’s ingenuity, competitive spirit, and proud tradition of excellence.

Throughout our Nation’s 250-year history, Americans have pushed boundaries, built boldly, and steered our country toward victory.  The Daytona 500 reflects the hard work and determination that have driven our Nation forward by transforming ambition into action and innovation into progress.  America’s drive to win will continue to fuel our Nation for generations to come because we will never stop building, never stop dreaming, and never stop striving for greatness.

While NASCAR brings millions of fans together, they are united by something greater than who wins the race:  faith in God, love of family, and pride in our great American Flag.  These great American ideals extend far beyond the race track—they guide us as one Nation under God.  As the cheers of patriots echo in honor of this glorious national tradition, we are reminded of the enduring spirit of freedom that makes America strong.

Melania and I send our best wishes to all those gathered at the “World Center of Racing” for a safe and fun race, and we give thanks to the men and women of our Armed Forces, whose selflessness and devotion to duty protect the freedoms we hold dear.  May God bless you, and may He continue to bless the United States of America.

In Munich, Secretary Rubio Calls on Allies to Embrace Shared Heritage, Meet Challenges of New Era

Source: United States White House

Today, Secretary of State Marco Rubio delivered a landmark address at the Munich Security Conference, boldly reaffirming President Donald J. Trump’s commitment to a revitalized transatlantic alliance grounded in mutual strength, shared heritage, and unapologetic defense of Western civilization. Drawing on Europe’s profound Christian foundations and cultural legacy — which helped forge the United States — Secretary Rubio urged European leaders to reclaim their sovereignty, confront common threats, and build a confident, self-reliant continent.

Secretary Rubio synthesized President Trump’s America First foreign policy: one that brings sovereign nations together in common purpose, rejects outdated globalist structures, rebuffs self-destructive policies such as unchecked mass migration and climate extremism, and secures prosperity and cultural preservation for future generations.

The speech drew widespread acclaim:

Vice President JD Vance: “This is a great speech. Worth watching the whole thing.”

Sen. Katie Britt: “Incredible. Watch this. Listen to every word.”

Sen. Joni Ernst: “Powerful words from @SecRubio! When our allies and partnerships are stronger, our adversaries are weaker. As America charts the path for a new century of prosperity, we hope to do it alongside our European allies.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham: “@SecRubio did a masterful job explaining why Europe should make new decisions regarding the direction the continent is going. He stressed the following: – Europe’s outcome matters dramatically to America – Modern America was birthed on the European continent but we have our own mind It is my hope that Europe continues to become more in control of the mass migration that has plagued the continent, and more committed to its own defense. Secretary Rubio explained — as well as anyone I’ve heard — that America First doesn’t mean America Alone. America First means a new relationship with Europe that is equally beneficial. To those in Europe who want to hold onto the old way of business, you are making a mistake – it hasn’t worked. Well done, Marco.”

Sen. Mike Lee: “Secretary Rubio speaks truth to power”

Sen. Dave McCormick: “@SecRubio gave a remarkable speech in Munich, Germany. It’s a must watch!”

Sen. Eric Schmitt: “Great speech by @SecRubio I pray Europe listens.”

Rep. Mark Alford: “One of the greatest speeches by a Secretary of State with a message made for the 21st Century. Perhaps this will mark a turning point in the future of Western Civilization. America First is not America alone. Well done, @SecRubio.”

Rep. Michael Baumgartner: “Secretary Rubio gave it straight to Europe’s leaders. America wants to partner with Europe, but Europe has to get its act together and build a real military, reject socialism, stop climate extremism, and defend our mutual cultural heritage.”

Rep. Carlos Gimenez: “Secretary of State Marco Rubio yet again proves how he is the greatest diplomat of our times: eloquent, thoughtful, visionary — simply brilliant.”

Rep. Mike Haridopolos: “@marcorubio brilliant speech. This will go down much like Ronald Reagan’s 1964 ‘A Time for Choosing’. Rubio has laid out a clear vision for freedom in the 21st Century!”

Rep. Darrell Issa: “An absolutely superb overseas address by @SecRubio — strong, smart, and persuasive — that presents the Trump Administration’s global vision and America’s place in the world.”

Rep. Mike Lawler: “The remarks delivered by @SecRubio were a tour de force and perfectly encapsulated the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. America and our European allies must unite against the unholy alliance that seeks to undermine and destabilize Europe, America, and the free world.”

Rep. Nathaniel Moran: “@SecRubio delivered a historic speech at the Munich Security Conference today. Rightfully, he did so without fear, without reservation, and without apology. His clear and precise words of truth reinforced the principles, purposes, and steadfast resolve that have motivated American strength in the past and that now give renewed direction for the future. The United States of America will not fade quietly into the night; instead, we will stand victoriously with our allies against the evildoers of this world.”

Rep. Greg Murphy: “Literally one of the best, if not the best, speeches regarding the need to ‘wake up’ and abandon Liberal policies that are destroying Europe and the US. Amen @SecRubio!!”

Rep. Zach Nunn: “Fantastic speech from @SecRubio. The United States and Europe are linked together by shared history and values. We must lead together or fall behind. That means securing supply chains, unleashing energy independence, and building a security alliance our adversaries won’t test.”

Former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy: “Well said. Great leadership.”

Former Miami Mayor Francis Suarez: “Incredible speech…so well articulated and delivered…the best our country has to offer in terms of leadership on the world stage.”

Journalist Catherine Herridge: “Consequential speech in Munich.”

New York Post columnist Miranda Devine: “Marco Rubio is brilliant.”

Foundation for Defense of Democracies CEO Mark Dubowitz: “An extraordinary speech. Reaganesque in vision, Churchillian in resolve.”

NewsNation host Katie Pavlich: “Absolutely remarkable. Well done @SecRubio”

Mark Hemingway: “This might have just entered the pantheon of the greatest American speeches of all time. It’s basically hard nosed Trump foreign policy delivered with Reagan’s confidence and optimism.”

Coach Bruce Pearl: “Secretary Rubio wants us to leave it better than we found it! Prouder, Stronger, wealthier and safer. That’s what we should all want and work towards for our grandchildren”

Commentator Hugh Hewitt: “A standing ovation —in Europe!— for @SecRubio. Deserved. Very deserved. It is a wonderful speech, summoning our 250th birthday as the spine on which it is built. Listen to all 18 minutes and send to your families and friends.  Every American can celebrate this.”

Palantir founder Joe Lonsdale: “An important speech by Secretary Rubio. This US administration cares deeply about the west, and is so much better for Europe than their leaders and political class realize. I hope they listen.”

KIND Snacks founder Daniel Lubetzky: “The more I see Marco Rubio lead, the more I am impressed… He combines the ability to be tough and direct, with the ability to inspire, unite & elevate…”

Theo Wold: “A speech from an American Secretary of State denouncing mass migration and glorifying the Christian origins of our civilization would have been unthinkable a decade ago. The American right has come a very long way.”

Meghan McCain: “Wow… truly one of the most inspiring speeches I’ve seen in years from Secretary Rubio in Munich. What an incredible statesman and ambassador for our country. Just blown away. More of all of this please from the admin. (Give the speech writer a raise)”

The Article III Project founder Mike Davis: “Wow. @SecRubio masterfully laid out President Trump’s powerful, compelling, and crucial America First foreign policy.”

The Blaze columnist Auron MacIntyre: “Just fantastic”

NASCAR champion Brad Keselowski: “This might go down as the most powerful and meaningful speech of our generation.”

The Land Center Director Daniel Darling: “Well deserved. We haven’t had a person in national public life with @SecRubio rare combination of soaring rhetoric and substantive vision for some time.”

PragerU commentator Shabbos Kestenbaum: “I don’t think people understand how unprecedented it is for an American Secretary of State to receive a standing ovation from the European political class.”

Tim Young: “This is one of the best speeches against communism and pro-Western Civilization that I’ve ever heard… Marco Rubio is incredible here. I started to pull quotes from it, but there are too many. This is a must watch.”

Economist Judy Shelton: “A powerful speech @SecRubio”

Author Joel Rosenberg: “Today’s speech by @MarcoRubio to the Munich Security Conference was one of the most important, well argued, and powerful addresses I’ve ever heard a Secretary of State deliver. Pitch perfect. Principled. And direct without being gratuitous. I hope European leaders were listening carefully. @SecRubio”

Rob Schneider: “Western Civilization needs no apology. America is free and strong and wants the same for Europe.”

Dr. Ben Braddock: “The speech Marco Rubio delivered in Munich is one for the history books. Extraordinary in every way.”

James E. Thorne: “U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio delivered a historic speech that placed America’s current policies within the larger arc of history and the doctrine of economic sovereignty. Articulating a clarity that has long guided Trumps U.S. strategy and is now being reinforced through disciplined implementation.”

President Trump Delivers Biggest Regulatory Relief in History

Source: United States White House

This week, President Donald J. Trump announced the single largest deregulatory action in American history: the full revocation of the disastrous Obama-era “Endangerment Finding” and the consumer mandates that depended on it. This decisive action dismantles the flawed 2009 determination that Democrats weaponized to justify over $1.3 trillion in burdensome regulations on American families, businesses, and consumers.

This historic step clears the path for lower prices, greater consumer choice, and a thriving economy. American families will save an average of over $2,400 on new cars, SUVs, and trucks. Transportation and trucking costs will drop, helping bring down the price of everyday goods. Drivers will no longer be forced into unnecessary, unpopular features that limit choice and jack up costs.

President Trump is proving once again that strong leadership delivers real results: lower prices, more freedom, and a stronger economy for every American.

Here’s what they’re saying:

America’s Power President and CEO Michelle Bloodworth: “EPA’s Endangerment Finding has been used as the basis for regulations that threaten the reliability of our nation’s electric grid.  These regulations, such as President Obama’s Clean Power Plan and President Biden’s Clean Power Plan 2.0, were designed to force the premature retirement of coal power plants across the U.S. and increase our nation’s reliance on electricity sources that are not as reliable as coal.  … Forcing the retirement of America’s coal fleet and jeopardizing our electricity supply makes no sense because the U.S. coal fleet is responsible for just 2% of global greenhouse gas emissions while China and India’s emissions account for nearly 40%. The U.S. must take advantage of our coal assets, just as our global competitors are relying on coal to fuel their own economic growth.”

America First Policy Institute Energy and Environment Director Jason Hayes: “This is a critical step toward restoring common sense in climate policy. The rule had become a weapon for sweeping and burdensome regulation, such as electric vehicle mandates, that was driven by a radical environmental agenda. The United States has shown time and again that we can achieve a cleaner environment, including clear skies and waters, without aggressive climate catastrophist mandates. By using an America First approach to fossil fuels, we can build a country that balances the need for safety and environmental care with economic growth. The Endangerment Finding was unlawful, unscientific, and unnecessary to provide the clean and productive environment that Americans desire and deserve.”

American Energy Alliance President Tom Pyle: “Thank you, President Trump and Administrator Zeldin, for this historic victory for American energy freedom, economic prosperity, and commonsense policymaking that serves the interests of American workers, families, and businesses. Since its inception, the Endangerment Finding has been weaponized against projects and goods that deliver affordable, reliable energy to the American people. It has affected investment and infrastructure decisions in ways that have harmed U.S. competitiveness, purely to advance a political ideology.”

American Free Enterprise Chamber of Commerce CEO Gentry Collins: “This bold decision by the Trump Administration removes the foundation for the failed experiment of mandating electric vehicles and restores common-sense limits on Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) authority to regulate greenhouse gases only where Congress clearly gave the agency that task. The rule published dismantles burdensome electrification mandates that have stifled innovation, raised costs for ordinary Americans and businesses, and hollowed out our industrial base by making us dependent on China. We applaud the Trump Administration for its decisive leadership, and we intend to aggressively combat any ensuing legal challenge to this historic rulemaking.”

Americans for Prosperity Energy Policy Fellow Faith Burns: “An agency must operate within the framework of its statutory authority. With today’s action, EPA is doing just that. EPA decisions impact our economy significantly. Today’s decision will have a positive impact not only on energy production, but on our economy.”

Americans for Tax Reform President Grover Norquist: “Thank you @POTUS and @epaleezeldin for delivering historic deregulation by rescinding the Obama Endangerment Finding. This is how the Left weaponized the EPA to kill new projects, strangle investment and threaten whole industries. This is a major win for affordable energy.”

Competitive Enterprise Institute Center for Energy & Environment Director Daren Bakst: “Today, the EPA took a big step in ensuring that the agency sticks to its statutory mission of environmental protection instead of being an economic central planner reshaping the economy and dictating how Americans live their lives. Greenhouse gas regulation is a tool that can be used as the basis for some of the most egregious examples of government abuse. We have already seen this with the Biden EPA’s efforts to try and kill off gas-powered cars and reliable electricity generation. Climate extremists will inevitably blast the EPA’s actions, but most Americans realize government policies that drive up prices, restrict freedom, and ignore the rule of law are devastating for the well-being of our nation.”

CO2 Coalition Executive Director Gregory Wrightstone: “The repeal of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Endangerment Finding by Administrator Lee Zeldin is cause for celebration. The basis of this wrongheaded climate regulation put ideology ahead of science. The rule has been an impediment to economic growth, a cause of rising energy costs and a destroyer of many thousands of jobs at power plants, coal mines and manufacturing facilities. Since the 2009 enactment of the Endangerment Finding, its scientific underpinnings have been found to be even weaker than previously believed and contradicted by empirical data, peer-reviewed studies and research.”

Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow: “Thank you @POTUS and @epaleezeldin for repealing the Endangerment Finding, a rule that negatively impacted American lives and our economy. America is freer and more prosperous thanks to you.”

Energy Capital Economic Development Executive Director Rusty Bell: “Both of these policies by President Trump are very good for Wyoming coal and energy sustainability and reliability into the future for the United States. Energy is the most important piece to America’s prosperity and security. We should be looking to add all types of generation to the grid, including significant addition of coal fired generation for that affordable reliable electricity.”

Ford Motor Company spokesman Dave Tovar: “We appreciate the work of President Trump and Administrator Zeldin to address the imbalance between current emissions standards and customer choice. Ford has consistently advocated for a single, stable national standard that aligns with customer choice, the market, societal benefit, and American job growth.”

Heritage Foundation Executive Vice President Derrick Morgan: “President Trump’s rescission of the Obama administration’s 2009 Endangerment Finding is on solid legal, economic, and scientific grounds. The Clean Air Act simply does not give EPA the power of a central planner for the economy, as Obama and Biden’s greenhouse gas regulations envisioned. Catastrophic global warming claims relied on models that systematically overstated the warming and extreme weather events that have occurred since, while the impact of eliminating U.S. vehicle GHGs is so vanishingly small that it wouldn’t even be measurable. Combined with needed permitting reform, this action can pave the way for the energy abundance and affordability that America’s working families need and deserve while bringing to bear our plentiful energy resources to compete with China.”

Independent Women’s Center for Energy and Conservation Director Gabriella Hoffman: “It’s long overdue to repeal the 2009 endangerment finding that labels carbon dioxide as a pollutant. The Obama EPA exceeded its authority regulating CO2 as harmful to human health under the Clean Air Act. For 16 years, this regulation tethered our economy to unsustainable, costly net-zero climate policies that failed to deliver lower emissions. The shale boom and energy innovation—not heavy-handed government—are responsible for lower emissions today.  Carbon dioxide is only 0.04% of the atmosphere and is essential for plant life. Energy deregulation won’t lead to decimation of the environment, either. This is a necessary course correction, and returns power back to Congress. Independent Women’s Center for Energy and Conservation applauds the Trump administration for repealing this flawed rule and putting science—not politics—first.”

Life:Powered: “The Endangerment Finding triggered regulations across mining, manufacturing, transportation, agriculture, and energy — imposing billions in costs on American families and businesses. After years of fighting this flawed rule, Life:Powered applauds the EPA’s decision.”

Petroleum Alliance of Oklahoma President Brook A. Simmons: “The announcement that the EPA has repealed the endangerment finding marks an important shift in federal policy, and I applaud the Trump administration’s efforts to return the agency to the rule of law and common-sense policies. Sound public policy must balance environmental stewardship with economic opportunity while encouraging energy abundance. Removing a regulatory foundation that has been weaponized to increase costs for consumers, harm the oil and natural gas industry, and undermine U.S. energy security is an important step toward regulatory certainty and competitive energy markets. The future of energy in the United States depends on innovation, not litigation, and on a regulatory framework that ensures affordable, reliable energy for families and businesses alike.”

Specialty Equipment Market Association/Performance Racing Industry CEO Mike Spagnola: “This is a tremendous decision by the EPA to course-correct after nearly two decades of abuses by previous administrations at the federal and state levels, and instead return sanity to our nation’s environmental policies. It was with great trepidation that SEMA/PRI watched our nation’s leaders demonize and ban the very motor vehicles that serve as the bedrock upon which the American people–families, small businesses, and automotive enthusiasts–rely to live their best, most prosperous lives. It was even more infuriating to watch these policymakers brazenly justify their actions with a dubious policy position that now rightly goes away, to be replaced with a common-sense, free-market view of what drives our nation’s prosperity.”

Stellantis: “Stellantis welcomes today’s decision, because it enables us to continue offering Americans a broad range of cars, trucks and SUVs — including BEVs, REEVs, hybrids and efficient internal combustion engines — that they want, need and can afford. We remain supportive of a rational, achievable approach on fuel economy standards that preserves our customers’ freedom of choice.”

Taxpayers Protection Alliance President David Williams: “After 16 long years of overregulation and unconstitutional overreach, President Trump is absolutely right to finally end the endangerment finding. The determination had given bureaucrats a blank check to enact heavy-handed regulations that impact everything from vehicle manufacturing to oil and natural gas refining and processing. It shifted enormous policymaking power from Congress to unelected officials. Today’s decision restores accountability and signals that lawmakers, not unelected bureaucrats, are in the driver’s seat… TPA applauds President Trump for putting taxpayers and consumers ahead of reckless and unaccountable bureaucrats. There is plenty more red tape to cut, and we look forward to more free-market reforms from the White House.”

The American Consumer Institute Senior Policy Analyst and Manager for Energy Kristen Walker: “I applaud the Trump administration’s decision to rescind the 2009 Endangerment Finding (EF) which has been used to justify heavy-handed legislation and mandates for greenhouse gas regulation. The EF delegated sweeping legislative power to the executive branch, enabling agencies to reshape the energy and industrial sectors without direct congressional authority… Rescinding the EF will lower costs, uphold statutory limits, and usher in a more common sense and democratically accountable approach to energy policy.”

The Heartland Institute Arthur B. Robinson Center for Climate and Environmental Policy Director H. Sterling Burnett: “This action is long overdue and good for the American people, freeing up the auto industry to make the vehicles people want unburdened by unnecessary emission restrictions or money-losing electric vehicle mandates. Today is a win for car and truck buyers and Trump should be applauded for taking this action. The endangerment finding was never justified by either science or law. Now it’s time to strike another blow for affordability, and strike while the iron is hot, to rescind endangerment for power plants as well.”

Thomas A. Roe Institute for Economic Studies Chief Economist and Acting Director E.J. Antoni: “Rescinding this failed bureaucratic overreach is tremendous news for the American people and American business. The empirical evidence is quite clear: this reduction in burdensome, inefficient regulation will save consumers, workers, and employers well over $1 trillion. It’s welcome news that, under the Trump administration, the American people come first once again, not radical political ideology.”

Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita: “President @realDonaldTrump has officially rescinded a 2009 “endangerment finding” concocted to justify trillions of dollars in burdensome regulations of carbon emissions under the Clean Air Act. This is the single, largest deregulatory action in U.S. history, saving taxpayers over $1.3 trillion and is a massive VICTORY!”

West Virginia Attorney General J.B. McCuskey: “I am enormously excited for this announcement. The Trump administration promised to deregulate, and repealing the unconstitutional Obama-era ‘endangerment finding’ is the single most impactful deregulatory action in American history. This rule was the first salvo of a war against working class Americans. It adopted a radical agenda based on pseudoscience, and it raised the price of every single American product. The endangerment finding’s impact can’t be overstated. It has cost American families over a trillion dollars since its adoption in 2009. So, EPA’s repeal efforts will save American families money and make vehicles—and every good transported by them—more affordable. The Obama administration designed this rule to force gas cars to go the way of the 8-track. But American consumers have spoken… Repealing the endangerment finding is long overdue.”

Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso: “The endangerment finding was based on political expediency – not scientific standards. The Biden and Obama administrations routinely abused this finding as an excuse to roll out red tape that destroyed jobs across America. I applaud the Trump administration for reversing this harmful action and restoring commonsense at the @EPA.”

Senate Republican Conference Chair Tom Cotton: “For far too long, Arkansans have paid the price of the disastrous Green New Deal. That ended today. I’m thankful President Trump and @epaleezeldin have cut unnecessary bureaucratic red tape which will lower prices for all consumers.”

Sen. Shelley Moore Capito: “I applaud this groundbreaking effort from the Trump EPA to further roll back costly regulations from the Obama and Biden administrations that have placed economic hardship on hardworking Americans. This repeal will have a transformational impact on my home state of West Virginia, as these efforts reverse the harmful Democrat attacks on affordable, gas-powered vehicles that West Virginians have endured for far too long. This action represents a key win for affordability, job creation and consumer choice, and I congratulate President Trump and Administrator Zeldin for their continued success in producing visible results for the American people.”

Sen. John Cornyn: “As the Trump EPA repeals Obama’s so-called endangerment finding, progressives fear they won’t be able to dictate the energy supplies, cars and appliances that Americans can buy.”

Sen. Kevin Cramer: “The endangerment finding is the definition of inventing authority out of thin air to justify bureaucratic creep. It’s been used as a cudgel against American manufacturers and producers when Congress never included it in the Clean Air Act. I’m grateful to @epaleezeldin and @POTUS for repealing this heavy-handed endangerment finding.”

Sen. Cynthia Lummis: “I’m thrilled @POTUS & @epaleezeldin are rescinding the imbecilic Obama-era rule used to expand federal overreach. It never received proper congressional debate or approval, yet fueled a decades-long campaign against our fossil fuel industry in the name of climate change.”

Rep. Brian Babin: “Rescinding the 2009 Endangerment Finding is a long-overdue step toward restoring the proper limits of federal regulatory authority. For years, this finding has been used to justify sweeping greenhouse gas regulations that have raised costs for American families, restricted domestic energy production, and placed heavy burdens on manufacturers, workers, and consumers. The Clean Air Act was never intended to serve as a vehicle for such broad regulatory authority, and stretching the law beyond its original purpose has created uncertainty and undermined American competitiveness. I commend EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin and the Trump Administration for taking action to ensure environmental policy is grounded in strong legal footing and realistic assessments. This decision will help protect consumer choice, support a strong and reliable energy sector, and reinforce the principle that major national policy decisions should be made by Congress—not imposed through regulatory overreach.”

Rep. Jim Baird: “Today, @POTUS and @epaleezeldin announced the largest deregulatory action in American history and rolled back the costly Obama-era Endangerment Finding! Since 2009, the Endangerment Finding has cost Americans over one trillion dollars and paved the way for burdensome vehicle emission mandates. I was honored to join @epaleezeldin and @SecretaryWright as they unveiled their proposal to rescind this rule in July of last year. I’m grateful the Trump Administration is taking action to stand up for our automakers and lower costs for Hoosier families.”

Rep. Kat Cammack: “‘GREEN NEW SCAM’ up in smoke. The climate crowd said killing Obama-era emissions rules would wreck America. Instead? Cheaper cars. More energy. Less bureaucratic chokehold. America builds again.”

Rep. Ben Cline: “This Obama-era emissions rule drove up costs by thousands and piled on outrageous regulations that ultimately hit consumers’ wallets. @epaleezeldin and @POTUS are championing affordability by nixing this ridiculous regulation, thereby driving down the prices of vehicles.”

Rep. Michael Cloud: “No more pretending plant food is a public health crisis. No more weaponizing EPA against American cars, trucks, jobs, and families.”

Rep. Harriet Hageman: “Rescinding the 2009 Endangerment Finding is a necessary step to stop regulatory overreach that targeted American energy, raised costs, and threatened Wyoming jobs. This authority belongs with Congress and the American people, not unelected bureaucrats.”

Rep. Richard Hudson: “Today, President Trump and EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin delivered the largest deregulatory action in American history. The Obama-era Endangerment Finding, which drove years of costly vehicle mandates, is gone. That includes eliminating the ridiculous start-stop feature that shuts your engine off at every red light. This action saves Americans $1.3 trillion, lowers vehicle costs by an average of $2,400, and restores real consumer choice. We’re cutting red tape, lowering costs, and putting families back in the driver’s seat.”

Rep. Barry Moore: “Washington bureaucrats shouldn’t dictate what you drive or how much you pay for it. The Trump Administration is cutting red tape, scrapping costly mandates, and putting Americans back in the driver’s seat – saving families trillions and restoring common sense.”

Rep. Riley Moore: “By rolling back the Obama-era Endangerment Finding, the Trump Administration has delivered the largest deregulatory action in U.S. history—undoing the climate crisis hoax that drove up prices and cost hard-working West Virginian coal miners their jobs. A massive win for American families, American workers, and American energy dominance. President Trump is putting the American Dream back within reach.”

Rep. Pete Stauber: “Today, @POTUS and @epaleezeldin announced the largest deregulatory action in U.S. history: the repeal of the Obama-era Endangerment Finding. This move will save American taxpayers over 1.3 TRILLION and save American families over $2,400 for a new vehicle!”

Rep. Tim Walberg: “I applaud @POTUS and @epaleezeldin for repealing this burdensome Obama-era policy that drove up costs and limited options for Michigan families. We must continue to remove costly regulations.”

Rep. Daniel Webster: “Americans should be able to purchase vehicles that best for their needs, not those of unelected Washington bureaucrats. Today, @POTUS and @epaleezeldin are delivering historic deregulation that restores consumer choice and lowers costs for Americans.”

Presidential Message on Career and Technical Education Month

Source: United States White House

For 250 years, our Nation has been built by the hard work, ingenuity, and unwavering determination of patriots who work with their skilled hands and brilliant minds to make our country strong.  This Career and Technical Education Month, we reaffirm our commitment to preparing American workers and students to carry this proud tradition forward and to equipping them with the skills they need to forge a great American future.

Every day, my Administration is working to promote and expand career and technical education to increase employment opportunities, boost productivity, and usher in a new era of economic growth marked by emerging industries and cutting-edge technologies.  Today, Americans have more pathways than ever before to develop the skills they need for success.  As the economy roars back with explosive job growth and unprecedented investments in science and technology, America’s competitiveness depends on our ability to close the gap between the demand for skill and the qualified workers ready to step up and lead.  A strong workforce drives economic growth and national innovation—creating a stronger, more secure, and more prosperous America.

My Administration is committed to increasing and enhancing career education opportunities to equip millions of workers and students with practical skills to thrive in their careers.  To advance this goal, last April, I proudly signed an Executive Order to realign federal priorities with the need for skilled and highly trained workers. Building on this effort, last July, I signed into law a new student aid program, known as Workforce Pell Grants, to support learners who want to use Federal financial assistance to enroll in short-term, in-demand fields. Then, in August, my Administration released America’s Talent Strategy to provide a blueprint for aligning our education and workforce systems to unleash the unbridled potential of American talent. In addition, we took several actions to advance artificial intelligence education for American youth.

We are slashing ineffective programs, investing in better employment and earning outcomes, and identifying alternative methods for workers to receive credentials of value beyond a traditional higher education degree.  Through our historic Trump Accounts initiative, we are expanding financial literacy and teaching our young people the virtues of capitalism.  And we have implemented a bold plan to expand apprenticeships with the ambitious goal of reaching and surpassing one million active registered apprentices.

This month, we honor the hardworking men and women who stand at the center of American innovation, ingenuity, and determination.  My Administration will never waver in preparing our workers and students to lead our Nation into a radiant American future defined by skill, tenacity, excellence, and strength.
